I think it's more the absentmindedness of not thinking to turn off "Backup to iCloud" and the reassurance that it's Apple and so their information is pretty well guarded.

I agree that all Bad guys should be caught, but in this case its something we all are happy to see. Of course theres this whole privacy thing, but if you seen these pictures you don't really care.

There's a giant difference between some paparazzi getting pictures of a beach trip and someone(s) actually hacking into these accounts to access photos.

I'd agree that the hackers crossed the line but that's what hackers do so some of the responsibility rests with the celebrities for not properly securing their sensitive data...At the very least those type of photos could have been taken with a regular camera and stored on a non-networked device...

It's actually interesting the number of smartphone users who don't really view the data on their smartphones with the same sense of zest for security as they do with the data on their PCs and laptops...That's probably a major factor that led to this breach....Not being tech savvy is probably another factor for some of these celebrities...

What? The responsibility is left on the security flaw that was left open. While it was an oversight from the developers. I wouldn't blame the celebs for not properly securing said thing, though highly stupid to back up private photos to an off site location.

When it's defaulted to something, nobody wants to mess with it or even care about the settings so it's understandable.. sorta. Said developer/company cares since it shows investors that it's a really 'useful' feature.

I said the celebs should shoulder some of the blame...not all of it...They took a risk having these photos on their phones/backed up to the cloud...Not saying they can't have whatever they want on their phone.. or in the cloud...it's their right like anyone else...but as a celebrity that shit should be well guarded against any sort of theft...both physical and digital.... ..... ...... ..........

I think the accepted rumor is that there's been some really low key hacker ring going on in the deep web that's just been compiling and sharing/trading pictures, and apparently some wanted to try and make profit off it.

They shouldn't be blamed at all. 0% blame on the user and 100% blame on the developers. What they back up is obviously silly to consider 'private' being hundreds of miles away, but I do not believe they are responsible for the leak at all. It's purely on the developers imo. The person that found an exploit? A flaw in the system which points back to the developers. Since we live in the real world where we all must point fingers, we point at all 3 parties.

It's possible that they were deleted long ago considering it's the power of the 'cloud' where nothing you delete is truly deleted. Possibly for security purposes ie someone backing up illegal and the FBI wants it. A single photo can be like 200kb to 20mb at most. Seems like a lot, right? Except when disc storage is $0.0000476 per megabyte.

I'm sure if you dig around their terms of use you can probably find that it's not deleted for X days.

But you know what I love the best? "I'm underage in those photos." You can find cases where people took photos of themself at 17 and were charge with child pornography of themself. I love that celeb treatment.
