What's your New Year's resolution for this year? What was your resolution for 2013, how do you think you did on it?

For 2014, I'm going to try and get a better hold of my finances. I'm ready to record all my income and expenditures and budget myself appropriately month by month.
Last year, I wanted to try and use a daily planner, to better organize myself on a daily basis. I didn't do so well
Wrote up a whole list of things I want to do/achieve this year... Some things on the list are far-fetched but that's OK. The list was not meant to be 100% completed...

I never got the point of waiting untill new years to start improving your life. If you want something changed, just do it regardless of what date it is.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken.

Because we get the feeling of being able to start fresh in the new year.

For me its not about waiting for improvement but to look back at the last year and think to myself what it is that I want differently for this year...But I guess your position still stands because I can that anytime...

You know if we all collectively decide never to reply to anything he posts again, he will eventually get bored and leave this place. For the greater good men!
University starts up again this year so I guess I want to be more dedicated towards it and see if I can't push the grades up higher.

I can in someway see your point. On the other hand what is so special about going from one year number to the next. It feels as if people put it off untill new years so 'it can be a resolution' and that is why they often fail because people usually don't want to change the thing they say they will change.

Now that I can appreciate. Looking back every year to see what you want/can do differently. But indeed, no reason it has to be at new years.
Take control of my finances, pay off some of my debt and save some money to move the end of this year. Not so much a new years resolution, it just happens to be a start of a new year that is what I am planning!
Not a new year's resolution but more so because I just finished the season of high credit card bills and I have to learn how to manage my finances better. I'm not in debt or anything and my credit score is excellent but I want to control my spending before I start spending way beyond my limits. That doesn't mean I'll deny myself stuff that I really want even when I can get them but at least learn to hold off or think twice about the purchase first. I tried placing a cap on my AMEX but I ended up raising twice and eventually removing the limit altogether when I purchased the parts for my PC. I gotta stop doing that lol.
Those little $40 withdrawals, the occasional cab service, and eating out on top of online shopping can really do some damage.
