Phonebloks
I really like the idea, even though their concept phone is not that appealing but the idea itself is awesome.
BUT it will never see light imo as the manufacturers prefer selling phones over selling parts only.

Yeah, really nice idea, but I feel strange after watching this video. Like I missed something.

Re: Phonebloks
*flashbacks of RE4 inventory* oh yes, this is want indeed.
But yea, this seems to good to be, too good to the consumer, why let you buy a new processor or camera for you phone when they can make you buy a whole new phone instead?

Re: Phonebloks
This phone is at the moment practically unachievable.
I don't have time to go into details too much now. So if somebody else wants to do it be my guest.
What it comes down to is that that the lack of fixed wiring makes communication between parts very hard. It'll be chaotic because there's nothing to control the in- and outputs. All the data would be swimming in a sea of signals. The data would run parallel with a lot of redundancy and data corruption.
Then there's also the issues between the different standards used by every manufacturer. It's not like they'll just agree and all follow one standard. Every phone manufacturer would have to start his own line of 100% original hardware.
It is possible, but at our current tech level it is impractical.

Great idea.
I don't like that system at all, takes too much time to manage. But they still have it in games.

Stalker has inventory tetris AND weight. Not a fan of that.
