it would be a little more acceptable to see an untrained human redneck trigger happy guy to shoot a dog point blank.

not a trained cop that has two other officers as back up that should be shooting more as a last resort rather than "on instinct".

a dog CAN kill but this dog was not that big for his breed, its also not that likely, the dog (who doesnt have any real intelligent thinking) would have to be lucky to get a good bite on the wrist or neck to get a POTENTIAL kill on the officer.

we are assuming that a dog aims at these locations to specifically kill humans and that a dog will be able to bite these locations with no reaction from the officer.

it just looks like trigger happy police officer to me, you wouldnt see european cops doing it, its not necessary.

oh and yes, human life IS above a dogs life but 3 armed intelligent trained humans vs 1 irrational dog isnt a life or death situation for me.

As for your dog-bite-wrists-tendons-ligaments speal.... all I have to say to that is a mailman deals with them everyday and he (by himself I might add) doesn't have a gun... They could have use another method to contain the situation....any of the methods we've seen posted here...

I'm working as a mailman too for a month and thankfully my area has no dogs, there is a single one that barks and he doesn't have a way of getting to me anyways. My mother has worked as a mailman for a long time and she has used the pepper spray a lot, she is also afraid of dogs.

That's impossible here, the mailboxes are most of the time too far from a road. And we also have huge apartment blocks where the mailboxes are inside. Only the ones who take mail to rural places or smaller towns use cars, only a couple use bikes.

One dog barked at me the first time I went there, but since then it has been friendly. There's also one little dog who is sometimes outside and that one barks at me a lot but I just ignore it because it doesn't have jaws big enough to bite.

I've read it and many other like it years ago, I understand their mentality. The difference is that it can be trained out for the most part by anybody who even bothers to try.
People just expect these dogs to be that way, just as people expected my GSD or Doberman to be aggressive and attack everybody that passes by. Which was terribly false.

If you train a toy breed to be a well mannered dog early on then it will act as one.
Most people think it's cute when little dogs growl, bark, and nip at people, which is why this is now acceptable to most.

nah he is just holding his hand out in a "stop" pose, the dog obviously ignored this message because all dogs must know that a human with their hand out firmly means "stop".

therefore it was clear the dog did not follow orders and approached the police officer.... QUICK SHOOT IT SHOOT IT DONT LET IT GET WITHIN 2 FT OF YOUR JUGULAR OR IT COULD LUNGE AND KILL YOU!
