Well, now that I'm more used to it, it doesn't sound as rough. And ofc it depends on the speaker as well. Can't really generalise an entire language like that. And I'm not sure about Chinese.

Indeed, German doesn't sound all that aggressive. But if you want to, you can completely overemphasize certain syllables to make it sound angry quite easily. Some of the examples given were purposely changed too... "Kugelschreiber" for example just being "ball writer" instead of ballpoint. I believe Germans generally refer to such pens as "Kuli" anyway, but don't pin me on that one.
