He told the crowd: “I’m 19 years old – I think I’m doing a pretty good job. It should really be about the music and the craft that I’m making. This is not a gimmick. I’m an artist, and I should be taken seriously. All this other bull should not be spoken of.”

He can probably sing, but most of his songs are heavily autotuned, so he is barely a singer. His songs are actually pretty nice, but thats cause of the beat, which he doesnt make, And has like 10 writers behind him to write pretty simple lines.
I think it would have been fairer for Bruno Mars to win, if it had to be a pop artist. songs are better

His point is, if he doesn't make beats nor writes a lyrics, how is he an artist? I can't deny his singing. I mean, he's not a new Pavarotti, but he doesn't sound bad.
