Hiring for our network

Post by Aristocrat »

Hello Members of SRF.

I thought i'll post this here before epvpers since I think srf is the core of what silkroad stood for. Therefore i'll give you the chance to join our team before any other forums.

We're currently working on a project that'll be released pretty soon. Most things are set we're just missing some ingredients at the moment.

We're halfway through creating our server and bought most things already as in designer for homesite/emblems, videos, server etc etc.

We feel that to provide the best server possible for everyone to play on we'll need one more developer on our team.

Who are you? Someone that combines a hobby like silkroad with professionalism. Being able to handle all kinds of people on forums and ingame. Speaking/Typing In understandable english is important. It doesnt have to be your first language

What do we expect out of you? Past experience in developing servers. Knowing how to do queries, db, media and related stuff. Knowing php etc is a bonus

How much time is expected of you? At start we'll need you on every day for a couple of hours. Preferably 12.7. When the server opens we've already bought an extra host to test future updates on that'll work on to be able to provide updates without bugs/glitches that only makes the server better.

What kind of server is it? What's your motivation for making it? It'll be a play2win server with the focus being on jobbing, pvp, pve. The choice will be by the player himself. We'll try to put together something that fits everyones taste. If you're interested we'll of course give you more details about it before you make a decision.

feel free to reply here or send me a message.

Sincerely,

Aristocrat

Ditto. Maybe I'll attempt to come back for a little while.
I'm hoping they'll make Chinese worth something here. Facerolling with Euros for years straight gets old.

Well, it'll be similar to salvation. And on salv, 7/8 Chinese pt raped a 8/8 euro pt. So, yeah.

We're trying to balance as much as possible. Some builds are hard to improve on the chin side. Example blader: only way you can make it stronger is by increasing or making a special skill that forces you to wear a blade to use it. Doesnt remove the fact that good s/s can weapswitch to use it. So we're working on finding a good balance on it.

More info about the server will be here within the near future.

Count me in. I agree, blade is a difficult class to buff since sword users will likely take advantage of it as well.
I'll input my suggestions later on once there is a log of all of the modifications to skills and such.

I see that the trailer shows players in 8D armor, are we looking at a 70 or 80 cap server?

The teaser is just a tease not giving out any information. It does show one important ingredient - jobbing :)

I'd like to think using the word "unique-based/job-based" etc forces you to do one thing. We're trying to make everything you do ingame matter. So it shouldnt matter if you like PvE, uniquehunting, jobbing, ba. Everything should give you something in return.

But yes we're hoping on some awesome jobwars :)

Gonna give this a go once it arrives. As long as we don't have our own pserver done.

You'll get more people back if you guys can be sure to keep that notion of professionalism present. Just like when many considered going into Salvation, everyone expected it to be Avalon's playground, & I'm already hearing this dubbed the Infensus' playground.

The easiest way is add a blade requirement to the bicheon force series (the buffs that increase damage, decrease defense), tone down the defense decrease a bit, make it last a little longer, and the damage is probably good where it is.
If a nuker tries to wep swap, they lose a considerable amount of mag damage, pretty much making that pointless. If they wep swap back to a sword, they lose the buff.

That was one thing I didn't like back in Salvation...
Eu chars were made for team play, so normally a eu pt should be able to beat a chn pt in most cases and not the other way around -.-

Well, in most cases euros would win on salv vs Chinese. But the Chinese consisted of old school bangs like Corrupt, Khaara, Sukiyaki, Flow, Deadfear, myself and others. And we were all in bent coordinating like crazy. It wasn't an easy win, since we went against fable's pt, but we were far more coordinated then they were. Which is why we won.

Main reason we're making this is cause we are tired of lazy gms and corrupt gms. There won't be an infensus, i'll even reserve the names so it can't be created. They're free to do whatever with whoever when they join but I doubt you'll see a larger inf formation ingame since most got new crews.

Noone will get biased. That I will assure you. Why kill yourself right?

(and for the dev team i'm the only infensus member)

Well thats good and sounds like steps in the right direction. A couple of the names I saw on staff or as consultants about how to set up the server rang bells of people who enjoyed terrorizing/trolling 24/7 on Salvation. And I am well aware the game needs that, or a sense of competition, some like to just dub it as the game needs drama. But obviously it will grow old quick if thats all the server ends up being, which it felt like Salvation began growing into at the end of when I played. So yes, that would be shooting the server in the foot.

Anyways, keeping an eye on how things progress and hope it all works out. Really hope enough people take interest in it and join to make it active.

Skills will be changed in a way that each class has its strengths and its weaknesses. There won't be jack of all trades build(warrior anyone?)

So what I've gathered is builds have been balanced, the cap is 100-105 [105 would be really hard to get if added].
Sounds like a good start. I'm really looking forward to a full log of changes made so far.

We actually had some various plans of making it like diablo 3. Where you grind to 100. Then 100 to 105 takes AGES and the only thing you will gain out of it is the int/str points no skills. Just for the **** of it. Doubt we'll do it tho

What are the rates like? I would like to find a server as similar to Diamond as I could (best server I've played on, so far). I will probably still give it a go nonetheless, but just wondering. :)
