My trip and operation

Post by Majorharper »

Alright so here it is:

January 4th I left for Dubai, to go see my dad for 3 weeks. (Those of you who have me on facebook will know this! :D) I hadn't been back in Dubai since December 2008! What intense changes holy crap! Very impressive. Yet it is still the same old boring city as it was when I left it.

Here are a few shots that my dad and I took while I was there:

This is my seat in the plane going from Toronto to Dubai, a Direct flight. It took 11h58mins!

First Class seat on Emirates!

That was me driving my dad's truck in the desert, it is a 1997 Land Cruiser Prado! Still works like a charm! It was a thrilling experience! I went as fast as 95 kmp/h!! HOLY CRAP WAS THAT SCARY!

Image

This was me at the West In hotel in Dubai, with my dad, a day by the pool with beautiful sunny weather. With my dad's Emirates Pilot Club card, we were able to go to the pool/beach of that hotel for free. It was really great!

After all that sunshine I had planned to go to Denmark on the 28th of January.

The flight to Denmark was 6h20Mins

I had a Business Class seat:

I went to see my best friend that I hadn't seen in 8 years! We were best friends in Dubai from 2000-2005, and he left Dubai in 2005 to go back to his home country, (Denmark!)

It was a scary decision! Because I did not know if the connection would still have been there! Thank god it did and we had a blast!!!

Image

Small party at my friend's friends' apartment!

Image

A nice shot I took in the evening while walking on one of the touristic streets of Denmark.

So I stayed in Denmark for 2 weeks and it was really really fun!

Time to say goodbye!

Image

That was the last shot with the "gang" in Denmark when I was leaving for my flight back to Dubai.

So I stayed in Dubai for one day, because the flight back to Toronto was only wednesday morning, and my flight from Denmark landed in Dubai on Monday at 11:50pm.

We decided to go for one last day by the pool.

Image

Beautiful view of the Burj Al Arab, we stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, another hotel my dad was able to go to for free with his pilot club card.

And finally, the morning of my flight:

So that was my whole Month and A Half trip abroad.

It was a once in a life time experience, I absolutely LOVED it!

So now I have been back for about two weeks, and it hasn't been any breaks for me since.

I have been operated for my heart problems 2 days ago, everything went well, and I am once again very healthy! Without any arrhythmic problems!

Now I have to rest for a week, and take everything easy.

Good to be back home!

Welcome back, pal!

Should have known you went to Denmark (I live here). Would have been kinda fun to meet someone from SRF in real life.

Anyway, glad you had a blast! If you don't mind me asking, which city were you in here in Denmark?

And the white shirt girl is just a friend I met while being there :P

Damn that first class makes me so envious... haha I'd be too spoiled after that one to fly in coach. And the F! That girl in the white looks like my wife, down to the makeup.

I'm guessing it was on sand, which would make it much more terrifying.

Oh, I suppose so. Driving on dirt roads is the closest to sand I've ever gotten. Though, now I want to try driving on sand too.

It's hard because of soft/hard sand and holes too and big dunes lol

Was it difficult to fly that long with heart problems? I thought it was unsafe to fly that long if you had heart troubles. Glad you're okay now tho.

I was a-symptomatic, so I didn't feel any arrhythmic problems, it was a freak case, because under normal circumstances they would not have operated me, but because I want to be a pilot, my heart must be in top shape.
