Love the retarded looking face he's got...Its priceless...
Either: 1) Its false and was just a staged marketing ploy to increase the game's hype
2) Its real and was a marketing plan to increase the game's hype
If it is real then this guy's gaming addiction is over 9000!!!!!!...He wasn't the only one that bought items. Two other guys spent $1,600.00 and $2,500.00 respectively. The game haven't been released when they were doing this...By the way...How much do you think you have spent on mmorpgs to date....whether SRO or other...

When you have a lot of disposable income this kind of stuff happens. If you are single, no kids, and getting 100k+ a year yeah 16k isn't a enormous amount for something he is probably very passionate about.

I wish I made 100k a year ;_;
year1buy -stingray -lots of virtual hats -12 new computers with 4monitors in 3D each -nvidia house insurance -And lunch with Gaben
Even though 16k is quite the considerable amount of money, but for a hobby? People would go the extra mile for it. Just for an example you'll see a bunch of cars that are worked on as projects that end up costing far more than the amount just to get it done by a professional.
If being a loser means not playing Silkroad all day.. lulwut?
I instantly thought of the sword of 1000 truths. Best episode ever. If I made that much money per year with no life to speak of, I'd buy me the best account on runescape, and fuck shit up.

I've spent over 1k in video games over the past 5 years, is not that big of a deal.
Guild Wars 2, Isle of Janthir (NA)
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken.
But he doesn't actually own the sword. The entire game is a property of the publisher, so yeah. They can choose to give everyone that sword for free later, then he's gonna be pissed and won't be able to get the money back.
Well I'm almost speechless...16Gs up front on a virtual item that you don't own.... And he did it when the game wasn't even released yet....I wonder if they would have given him his money back if the game failed to release....Probably not... Talk about disposable income....

I think I've spent close to $2,000 on mmorpgs over a 7 year period. That's not too bad in my opinion. I did at least enjoy what I paid for at the time... But I don't think these online mmorpgs deserve a $2,000 up front payment for anything...and with the prospect of getting more as the game progresses...no fking way...

I remember when I first started playing SRO and saw someone in game selling a SOSun lvl 42 bow for $50.00 and I laughed...I was thinking to myself what fool is going to give real money for some virtual item... Little did I know about the world of mmorpgs.... This guy is further proof that I still don't know crap...He amazed me...I see now people are willing to go an extra 100 miles to satisfy their hobby

Stay that way, my friend. Once you figure out a way, one cannot simply stop. ~700$ SRO ~80$ Trickster ~120$ Elsword

~50$ Other games
I've been cheap. The game that probably took the most of my money was either SRO something around $400 over the course of 3 years i think it was or Aion where it's something around $350+including original $50 box.
