This is pretty cool. Odd thought knowing that people still follow rituals like this

Oh cool. It's a pretty time consuming ritual, but it's better to feed the nature than just burn the flesh I think.

Should change the title heading to [NSFW] instead of (graphic) imo

While I know that once someone is dead - they're dead - and it doesn't really matter what happens to their remains, it still makes me uncomfortable in the sense that I could never do that to someone I knew. Seeing this doesn't bother me really though. It's either the birds get to eat or the soil gets some compost (or however else you see it).

I'll justify my discomfort by saying that science may someday allow us to live incredibly extended lives and revive those who are dead (to a point of course) so some dismemberment of a dead person could prevent that..idk

Its a pretty interesting ritual. I'd rather they took the body out to sea for sharks to take care of it or to a crocodile infested river....That was a little bit too graphic seeing how they slice up the body..

People really develop interesting ways to cope with death; each having their own symbolism and psychological explanation. Some people simply want to dissolve into nothing, others want to "return to ashes", some have a hard time letting go and prefer to be mummified or frozen, and there are those with a special flare who do unconventional things like turn into a synthetic diamond after being cremated. Then there are people who want to continue being of use even after death by donating their organs to other people or opting to be a cadaver - or, in this case, feeding the vultures.

I think the "returning to nature" concept. I remember seeing a while back that there are some urns you can place a tree in and the tree grows from your ashes and eventually can be planted in the ground. I thought this was a nice thing to do because of people visiting a stone with engravings on it they can visit a tree that your remains helped give life to, and the tree will be around for many lifetimes so even other generations can visit, until some asshole chops it down to make room for his pool.

It was something like this but it wasn't the same one I had seen previously.
