Getting a new bike

Post by Majorharper »

Hey guys, I know there are some Deutsch guys here which use a lot of bikes :)

I got this bike already: Image
(ps i have no idea why his seat is so high, mine is all the way at the bottom)
for some fun bmx racing, but I find it a bit annoying to move around because of the single speed.

So I have a really amazing bike shop near my house with some pretty cool hybrid mountain bikes...

I found these three choices: http://www.bicyclesquilicot.com/Special ... rettyPhoto

Now I have a budget of around 800$ tops without taxes, I don't want some ultra mtb, but nothing super road bike either...

See my best friend has a bmx (he did trial before and that stuff) so he obviously tells me im stupid to go to that stuff, he has a 21 inch bmx right now and he goes everywhere with it lol...

On the other side, my dad is a die-hard road cyclist (regularly does 45 - 100km rides) with an average of 35kmph (alone)

I have two very biased reactions lol, I thought I might ask the community and see what they think about it!

Any other brands I should look at?
Giant?
De Vinci?

Not very familiar with them bikes...

Oh god no he didn't!! :soosad:

Anyways, if you're referring to Dutch people -who are in fact born on bikes- then you're a bit out of luck because most Dutch people don't ride mountain bikes and usually have single gear/ 3 gear bikes. You see, the country is flat and there are hardly places where you actually use a mountain bike.
Also, no sane Dutch person buys bikes that are $600. When you get to <$50 you're in my wheelhouse and I can give you some advice. But when it comes to these fancy schmancy mountain bikes all I can tell is you to take them all for a ride and see what you like best. Keep in mind how much off road you want to do, and realize the direct trade off you have to make for this (big tires go slow on the road).
If I had $600 to spend on a bike I'd buy a real lightweight bike with thin tires to just bike effortlessly.

Yeah I don't know shit about the terrain where you would be biking.
Just take the bikes for a ride and decide.

That thing better be made out of Farking gold for that price. ;)
Nice bike, though. It's strange to think you can pick up a Ninja 250R motorcycle for a few more bucks.
