Ohh, sweet! I thought it was gonna come next year.
IGN wrote:During an earnings call today, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed III will be released in October.
According to CEO Yves Guillemot, the game will hit stores on October 30th. Guillemot revealed that the game has been in development for three years and that "what we have seen is just fabulous."
Previously, Ubisoft teased that a major Assassin's Creed title would come this year, but this is the first outright confirmation that it's AC III. The game is said to complete the story of Desmond.
While no platforms have been announced, recent Assassin's Creed games have hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game is likely headed to Wii U as well, since an Assassin's Creed game was announced for Nintendo's new system during E3.
It's kind of irritating that they said they could pump out 35 assassins creed games in they wanted to.. odd number if you ask me and that will piss me off, but make me happy lol. #3 is to introduce a new Character and have a brand new setting. It will Never take place during WWII

The first one is horrible in-comparison to the other ones.
And it's still good standalone. Just goes to show how good all the games are as a whole. The first one is kind of redundant unless you've played revelations. You can get by with #2 and Brotherhood without 1. You can even play through Revelations if you simply know that Altair is an assassins of Legend and also had an Apple of Eden.

Lots of ppl like only the other ones. I don't see that it's horrible. It's just that it's kinda repetitive. But the fact that you can't heal makes it much harder. And the story part of it is just awesome.
The most probable historic setting will be China a decade of two after the Revelations story or America during the revolution, there were some other options too. I'd like China more for now cos i wouldn't like too many guns in an AC game atm.
Now AC3(or its possible named episodes) is meant to wrap up Desmond's story as well. So its even more interesting who will be the next main protagonist. I kinda see why they have scheduled it to come this year. The templar sattellite launch was meant to happen at the time some assholes want the world to end. So they probably want it to be closer to real time.
It's kinda interesting that they have been working on it for three years already. And their Revelations crew was the biggest yet. So i imagine they were quite busy working on two games simultaneously.
I already pre ordered this to get the Steel Book. Idk if I'll get the Encyclopedia though. Maybe. I've been blowing money like crazy this last year just because.. lol
Id advise playing the other games, you have more then enough time to do so and they should be cheap.
First one laid down the foundation for all this, and while they improved on it leaps & bounds I still think its worth the playthrough for sure. But I'd definately play through the others to get all you can of the story. I love everything about this series, and am so excited for III. Very impressed that with such a huge location & time change they still seemed to have pulled it off. The article on it in GameInformer was impressive.

They are developed by different teams.
Guild Wars 2, Isle of Janthir (NA)

I think the collector's edition system is a bit stupid, but then you'd have to choose which stuff you want if you can't afford all three. You can't have everything in life.

That teaser got me very excited for some reason. The hidden blade(OTF) turning into a fixed blade was surprising.
