penfold, don't be so sarcastic all the time... (pessimism is not the same as wisdom)
Try to start silkroad with only programs from windows running in the background.
If that doesnt solve it, it could be your internet speed.
Also, Silkroad always laggs just a little, depends on where you live and your internet connection as well.
If you cant move for 5 seconds its probably your connection.
If skills lagg sometimes its probably just joymax.

Re: SRO constant lag
I love how teddybear talk about something totally different than the laggy pos casting delay in certain areas.
As for penfold well he answered it. The "Casting Delay Lag" Effects different area's. This is why you might not see it in others. My server it effects North Alex, South Alex & surrounding area's. Jupiter Temple, Mirror, Temple, Job, Roc mountain. But Jangan, DW, Hotan, Sam, etc are fine.
So yeh it's been like this for two - three month's now? Quit or go to private server....
The population is rapidly declining look at rev6. You can't do job cave because a wizard has the upper advantage. "Casting delay"
btw he's talking about the 5 seconds it takes to cast a skill and then another 5-7 seconds to cast a second skill. Not the general lag you get from the server being so far.
lag will eventually kill silkroad if they don't fix it. Not only that am pretty sure some quit for diablo III.

Actually, penfold has a point. I don't think that it's possible to get rid of the lag when you're playing on a server that's located on another continent. Personally, I'm not a fan of private servers, so I'd suggest that you join one of the official servers, located closer to you.

Re: SRO constant lag
never had the lag before, i've noticed this delay happening for quite a few months, i quit a while ago and just now got back into it, but grinding is hella frustrating with the delays happening.. i think ur right about only the certain area's i don't really notice it in samarkand, but it's really bad at the 104 bugs. I played Redster SRO for a while and it's really fun until you cap and there's no other players around..

Re: SRO constant lag
i wasnt being sarcastic... isro has had these issues before and when they did finally fix the issue too many people had left because of it.
silkroad is owned by a company with poor management so expect nothing more then nothing im afraid... lots of people lag and theyre always going to blame your internet or your pc...

Re: SRO constant lag
haha no no we know that silkroad comes with that as well... but thats always and regardless of what you do silkroad will always lag ^^
the skill lag is the lag between the button press and the char actually doing the skills... if you play a melee class this becomes very very annoying.

Re: SRO constant lag
When i tried to get a GM to take a look they totally ignored the fact it was there. I ended up in jail because it isn't hard to notice the skill delay. Disorganized management ever they just payed some hoebags min wage with almost the same limited powers as the previous GM's.
Not worth the trouble even the servers are now down to only triple digit numbers.

I know this is a really old post, just hopped on silkroad today and the lag is still here. Someone's solution was to use a proxy server? does this seem legit?

If you're talking about isro and not sro-r, I guess it would make sense to use a proxy / VPN if you can find a fast one. You'll probably have to pay for it, though. But yeah, basically, if you can find a VPN/Proxy in the country where the servers are hosted, it could go faster.
Again, that is if you can find a quick enough VPN.
Ps. which server are you playing on?
