PC doesn't boot. Oh god why.
So today I turned on my PC, it turned off, then on, then nothing happened. I left it on to see if it will eventually load but nope. I tried most possible solutions, reseating RAM, Video Card, Sound card, even the whole damn PC, I took it apart and it still won't work.
Any thoughts about what might have caused this?

Does it get past the bios or what? you'll have to be a bit more specific about the actual moment it fails, and how it fails.

Oh crap
Well, I'm afraid.. your "hard disk" or "power supply" may have been broken.

Re: PC doesn't boot. Oh god why.
yeah like poehalcho said, does it do anything at all?
my pc recently wouldn't even get into bios, i removed practically
everything and it still would just switch the power source on and
off repeatedly. try to remove all bits, and if you can try another
psu if you have one to see if the problem lies there. if thats not
it then it might be your mobo, which was the problem with my pc..

Nope doesn't get to BIOS, it turns on, then off, then stays on doing nothing, showing nothing.

Most probably ur PSU. Happened to me couple of times. It's good to invest in a better PSU.

I'm going to guess you've got a mobo problem. Don't take my advice though, I'm not really knowledgeable about this stuff.

powersupply or motherboard most likely. Both are annoying to swap out though..

Re: PC doesn't boot. Oh god why.
U should disconnect everything except ur monitor when going through the next steps. (this includes mouse, keyboard, usb devices, HD, CD-drives,...)
It has happened to me a few times a USB/Sata device/port went crazy and caused similar problems.
1/ reset bios (either using a reset button - available on newer mobo's OR using the cmos-clear jumper on the mobo)
2/ remove ur rams and see what it gives, if u aren't getting any beeps (like u have now); than it probably isn't the ram. The mobo should detect there is no RAM installed and go in "alarm"
(assuming the speaker is hooked on or if the mobo has a speaker built-in) So:
a) No alarm -> not the rams that cause trouble
b) Alarm -> One of the rams (or rambanks) is faulty
3/ assuming a) occurs:
Take out the cpu, carefully remove any "dust" that u see in the socket & on the cpu (just blow on it). Place the CPU back.
Try again
No go, then:
Try an other PSU
4/ If changing the RAM & PSU does not help, take out the mobo (out of the case)
It could be a shortcircuit caused by ur case. (It rarely happens though, only occured to me 2 times in 1.5y)
5/ Still not fixed, probably mobo dead (could be the cpu too, but highly doubt it, only had 1 faulty cpu in 1.5y and it was an 8y old P4 CPU in a pc that was nearly on 24/7 365 days a year)
Hope this helps

^ What Razorhead said.
For his first step it should be noted that not all mobo's have a reset button or a cmos clear button. You can reset it as well by removing the small 'watch battery' that's in your mobo and then putting it back a couple of minutes later. (Not sure why you have to wait a couple of minutes, I was always told that and have always had success with it.)

Re: PC doesn't boot. Oh god why.
harper, it's probably because you don't have an internal speaker hooked up and the your board doesn't have one.
In your case OP, the three most likely are your PSU, Mobo, CPU
I'm certain it's your motherboard though so try find a way to test your cpu in another mobo and same with your psu to be sure.
good luck
