Re: P90X
I did it for a little over a month before I realized that I was skinny and needed to gain weight, not lose it.
It's extremely tiring, and after your first Plyometric session, your legs will be sore for about a week.
Its good if you're fat/chubby and want to lose some weight without losing much muscle.

Re: P90X
I did some of the workouts, though I dont think I would want to workout everyday which can be time consuming... dont know how the whole thing works.
I would keep it simple to dieting/weights/cardio

I thought muscle memory was a good thing to increase efficiency? Or did someone spew me some bullshit?

There's so much broscience everywhere that it's hard to tell what is actually good and what isn't, but I'd argue that muscle memory is a bad thing. The muscles get used to the same exercises and then aren't challenged by it as much as before, reducing gains.

No I'd say they were right. Just about everyone sees a massive strength/muscle gain when they switch routines. I remember my bench went up by 15lbs in 1 day because my weight training coach made the class try a new routine.

15lbs in a day from a routine change. No.
More like you ate better that day, or your form was better, or your mind was in a better (more motivated) state.
If you jumped 15lbs in a day (how do you qualify that anyway, you maxed twice, two days in a row?), that is strength that was already there. You just finally figured out how to harness it.
OnT: I did P90X two years ago as my introduction back into weightlifting / eating healthy after 3 years of college life away from HS (where I used to lift for sports). Lost 20lbs in 2 months and was pretty damn lean. After 2 months (aka, I didn't finish it)I transitioned into a normal split (4 days a week now) and that has worked perfectly for me since then.
I've made steady progress over 1.5-2yrs on a 4 day split, split body parts, emphasis on the "big 3" lifts. I practice IIFYM dieting (if it fits your macros) and follow a bulk/cut sort of cycle.
Come at me broscientists.

Re: P90X
^I may be an anomaly. I know it may be hard to believe that I went up 15lbs in a day without a recovery day in between. Back then my bench was pretty low(135-150) so it's not like I went from 250-265 or anything like that.

Re: P90X
My highest spike was 75 Ilbs in 2 months. Was feeling pretty good about that. Eating right makes a huge difference.

Missed this...
It works really well for me. I set the amount of pro/carbs/fats I want to meet a calorie goal depending on what I'm doing (cutting, bulking, or maintaining) then I can basically eat whatever I want that fits my macros. Obviously healthier choices are preferred and my go-to foods most of the time, but if I'm craving something else I just see if it fits and eat it.
Sometimes this means missing food all day if I'm super busy then when I realize I haven't eaten I can splurge on some fast food that fits my macros, then fill in the rest with a small healthy snack or whatever... It works for me.
