This has actually made a giant difference. Google said millions have signed the petition they linked to. That's huge considering hundreds of thousand is usually enough to get a message across.

They make le internet very mad. :x

That sucks. Why did FBI shut it down? Such a good site. It's also in the news that the leader of the developing department of MegaUpload is an Estonian and he's one of the accused ones.

I don't mind them trying to reduce or put a stop to piracy as long as they just focus on that alone. Focus on the actual pirates who are profiting.....However if a person buys and owns a product they should be allowed to share it FREELY (in all sense of the word) with whomever they want....But the people pushing for this act will mostly likely not even condone free sharing....And this is where I draw the line...If sharing the files that I bought it is hurting your profit margins then that's your problem.

If everyone nation wide was carpooling everyday I can't see Ford/Nissan/Honda pushing for a bill to stop carpooling because it is hurting their sales so why should you be allowed. And yes I could argue that file sharing helps save the planet like carpooling in the sense that less energy is required to produce and packaged more and more of your products (Depending on how the product is released).

That's why Sopa is so strongly protested. It's open ended wording fucks internet freedom. It's name is absolutely misleading and it's been revised a few times so that it's just utter nonsense.

Those sneaky bastids.

The sponsors of bill H.R.1981 are not stupid people. By naming a bill 'The Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011' they have managed to take a piece of legislation that could be the worst threat to online privacy ever and make it virtually impervious to critique. Who will stand up and vote against the safety of our children?

So what does this piece of legislation hold that could possibly threaten online privacy?

Bill H.R.1981 contains legal responsibility for any Internet Service Provider to keep detailed records of "your Internet activity for 12 months, your name, the address where you live, your bank account numbers, your credit card numbers, and any IP-addresses you've been assigned."

I never thought about that...But seeing those adds on the side of the web page and the donations that were accepted with the opportunity for more and also wondering if there is written consent from Joymax for the existence of SRF then I have to wonder if you're on to something....
