PS3 160GB vs 320GB

Post by CrimsonNuker »

The 360GB version is on sale for $299 right now, and it comes with Uncharted 3, God of War 3, and Metal Gear Solid 4.

The 160GB version is going on sale for $199 on Boxing Day, with just the core included. I will be able to buy God of War 3, and MGS4 for about $15 each, not really interested in Uncharted 3 yet.

So my main question is, is the extra 160GB worth a whole $100?
Will I have to install every game I play or some shit?

The only thing keeping me from buying the deal right now is that I'm going to be extremely tight on budget, and that I know I could get GoW3/MGS4 for cheap.

No it's Not. An extra 160 is nice to have, but I have a 320Gb for my xbox and I install all my games on it for 7GB+ a piece and still have over 160gb free.

Does that mean you don't need the CD's to play them?

Still need the disc to start it, but then the disc stops spinning and the system doesn't get hot as fast. The only times games load faster is single player or offline obviously though. I wish you could install them and no longer need the disc, but then you'd be able to do that then resell the disc I guess so it makes sense.

Even with the floods it's not worth the extra $50. If you don't PSN titles you'll never fill it up even with all the required installs.
