Stupid PS3 version has some kind of memory leak bug and after some playing, it's reboot your PS3 or play with lag. I hope the upcoming patch fixes it.

Shame the ps3 version is just a port, would buy a second copy there otherwise. I think this is the best game I've played to date.

I'm nearing the end of my first character.
Things planned to do

*Dark brotherhood questline
*A few more Daerdric shrine quests
*Collecting all the dragon masks
*Finishing all achievements barring the one from the thieves guild because it bugged.

You shouldn't wish that. Mine is currently in Asia, and I wish she wasn't.

Is there a point in playing on master difficulty? By which I mean do the enemies do different things or do they just hit harder and have more health?

Is it neccessary to play the previous Elder Scroll-games to play Skyrim? And by that I mean whether or not Skyrim continues where Oblivion stopped and so on. I'm planning to get this game as I'm only hearing positive things about, but I'd hate to play the previous parts before I can begin with Skyrim. I can't get myself to play a game with graphics like Morrowind. I once downloaded Oblivion but I removed it the same day. At that time I couldn't understand how an offline RPG could be fun, since I was used to MMO RPG's like SRO and before that Runescape. I'd like to try now it though.

You don't have to play the other games. It's 200 years after the last game from what iv'e read.

Lore-wise I think you can get most of the history from npcs/books.

but if you want the full experience play the past ones.

i've only played skyrim.

The story-line makes perfect sense to me and I've never touched Oblivion before.

From what I've heard, they just hit harder and have more health. No fancy AI improvements or anything.

I haven't played any of the games before Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Mostly because I usually get bored of RPG games (offline) as I have nobody to chat with.
However, after a friend constantly kept saying that I would really like this game, I downloaded it (from my friends Steam account), and I must admit, I fell in love!
I sat there, at my pc with my headset on full blast, and I really had the feeling that I was actually the character I played.
Something I haven't really tried with any other rpg before. The beautiful music and the great and open landscapes really caught me, haha.
Great game!

zzzzz Everything one shots my 'assassin' character and my friends call me a pussy if I switch off master. I hate it when RPGs pull this shit with difficulty settings instead of actually balancing for each difficulty. Can't wait for mods.

This. I bought Oblivion along with the 2 expansion packs in like September because I wanted to get a feel for the game before I invested into Skyrim. I put the game back on my bookshelf after 30 minutes and regretted buying it. Now I'm in love with Skyrim

The only overarching story in the Elder Scrolls games are the political changes. Other than that, each game is pretty much standalone.

Loved Morrowind and Oblivion. As long as Bethesda keeps making these high quality TES games, I don't care if I have to wait another five years for the next one.

I love how almost everything is interactable. I hate how everything is interactable.

I killed a chicken on accident and the entire town gang-rapes me... really... >_>

I also can't tell if stealing shit will come back to bite me or not...

I recommend everyone plays this on default difficulty because it's pretty clear that's the only thing they balanced for. Anything harder is not worth playing at all, all you do is kite for hours/try to find a place you can glitch an enemy so he can't hit you (i.e. walk in water, heal, walk out of water and hit them)

Probably not far enough in the game to know, but I have no idea why the games are called The Elder Scrolls. At least in Skyrim, so far, there's no mention of them.

THIS.
When I got to Riverwood, I killed a chicken and it raised my bounty, and then I tried to pick a lock just for fun and the next thing I know, I have the whole town chasing me.

Now I always save before I try to pickpocket a citizen, steal shit, or just pick a lock.

My gf and I had a good laugh. She watched me hit the chicken then OMFG gang-rape by the townsfolk...

I still get randomly arrested but whatever, I'm the Thane now so all those guards can **** off.

Whenever I get caught for a crime, I kill everything that opposes me, and then I load the save I made before I committed the crime.

It gets explained what the Elder Scrolls are somewhere during the main quest.

The narrow and totally incomplete view on the scrolls: They are prophecies that concern a hero who saves the world.

SM_Count wrote:I take it back, play on expert, adept is a joke and master is just retarded.

Master requires an annoying approach. Combine alchemy, enchanting and smithing with the weapon and armorstyle of your choice and you can 1-2 shot enemies and survive as long as you're not letting yourself swarmed.

I think Skyrim is the first elder scrolls game I've ever seen actually mention them. However, I never played much of morrowind (didn't like) and don't think I fully finished Oblivion either.
