Mists of Pandaria - Confirmed as next expansion.

Post by Lempi »

Interview with Chris Metzen on Direct TV
The pandas were actually going to be the alliance race in The Burning Crusade but Blizzard changed their mind.
The pandas will be playable by both Alliance and Horde.

Features
Level cap raised to 90
New class: Monk
New race: Pandarens
Pve Scenarios
Pet Battle System
New Talents
New continent
Challenge Mode Dungeons

Mists of Pandaria is the next WoW Expansion
This is official, Mists of Pandaria is the new expansion and it will feature the pandarens as the playable race, along with a new class and of course tons of new zones, dungeons, etc!

It will not feature a main vilain, and will mainly focus on the Horde vs Alliance war.

This whole expansion is going to be such a huge joke.

Pandas and Pokemon? What happened to WoW?!

I signed up for the year of WoW and the free Diablo 3/free MoP Beta invite so I guess I'll see what's up during the Beta if it's changed for the better. I hate this new talent system and I hate the premise of a whole expansion based around Pandas.

Yeah, i got to admit. Both WotLK and Cata made me want to come back to WoW, and actually had me renew my subscription. This on the other hand :(. Not so much.

Especially this new "Talent System" where we only get 6 Talents at 90... No thanks. I enjoy the fact that there are such a variety of Talents that you can create a Talent Tree based on how you and what you play

Their philosophy for this is they want to get rid of the filler talents and the talents that increase x stats by y%. I agree with you though. Most of the Paladin talents have little to no use for Ret and the ones that do are on the same tier. Blizzard's dropping the ball already and I hope another Talent revamp is going to happen.

Pet Battles are also the stupidest fucking thing to happen to WoW ever. Huge waste of development time.

Love the Asian theme! It's basically what got me stumbling into MMO's in the first place (SRO, duuurr). I stopped playing though and MoP isn't convincing enough for me to resub.

One thing I'll take from this expansion though will be the soundtrack. YUUUSSSS!

Agreed,

There is already plenty of things to be doing in WoW, and Pet Battles is not one that i think ill be adding to my list.

Let's see how things go, i mean we are a way's away from Release of MoP so there might be changes/additions that could change our minds.

I don't think they plan on changing the Pet Battle system sadly. As of right now I signed up for the year of WoW so I could get D3 and MoP Beta free. After that year we'll see what happens.

From the bit of MoP that I played at Blizzcon, Pandaren look ridiculous, as expected. Think Kung Fu Panda with WoW's graphics engine.

The only thing I am looking forward to in the expansion is, contrary to what most people think of it, the pet battle system.

Since WoW release non-combat pets have been nothing but eye candy. At least this gives them a purpose. Besides, I loved Pokemon when I was younger so this intrigues me.

Blizzard can either make this great or terrible. Only time will tell.

Not to be a downer about it, but I predict that Pet Battle system will be awesome when it's released, but Blizzard won't make any changes or update it in any way so it will just become stagnant and sit there after a while.

I'm only new to WoW, so I probably can't say too much, but if you don't like the pet system than just don't use it? There's some people out there who will really enjoy it and others who will not. If your one of the people that don't enjoy it why be turned off the entire game by it? Just ignore that feature and explore the rest of the game *shrugs*

Also I'm surprised no one is talking about the new class?

But what I really wanted to ask is what's this new Talent System they are bringing in? I still barely have my head rapped around the current one :(

EDIT: I just had a look at a new talent calculator and I dislike the look of it. You only get to choose 6 Talents and they have no levels? That seems silly to me. I like having a new Talent Point every 2 levels and reading each skill figuring out what to pick and what order to get things in. This new system seems like it might take that fun away from me >__<

The gripe with pet battles is that the time it took to develop it could have been used to put out better end game content(which has been lacking in WoW since 4.1 really).

As for the talents, Blizzard stated they wanted to get rid of filler talents like "Increases x stat by 3%" for more choices of talents that actually give you a small advantage. I agree with the dislike of 1 talent point every 15 levels and only having 6 to choose from just seems lame.

I don't plan to play in Mists though, so it's whatever. What I saw a Blizzcon did not at all interest me.

I agree, however, as a lover of Pokemon and an avid pet collector, I am looking forward to it. In fact, it's probably the only thing in the entire expansion that interests me at all.

Pokemon sounds so stupid. The only thing i'm excited for is that the story is based more around the horde vs the alliance instead of both factions against deathwing or lichking.

They're pretty much going super casual with a side of Pokemon and Farmville.

ontopic: panda theme is not intriguing.

I'm hoping there's a leveling system like Halo 2. I'd like a set level cap that's reasonable as opposed to an XP system.

Same for me as far as rushing to highest level. I do want to get super try hard with it for at least a while. I'm down for some H2 PC, I'll hit you up

Pandas killing WoW and making it super casual.

It will appeal to the casual, lazy playerbase that WoW has today

September 25 Midnight PDT release date confirmed.

One month before my annual pass runs out, I was hoping I'd get to cancel first.
