depends. for pc? console?

dead island needs to be played with friends ONLINE (no split screen), so you can't always pick up and play (unless you solo, not nearly as fun).

RAGE is backed by ID Software,, haven't heard much about it but ID + Bethesda should be a good combo?

I'm rethinking rage, cause it doesn't have rpg elements, but it looks orgasmic.

Now, this is vastly out of exaggerated, but it gives you an idea. Then again, you already stated it would be for console, so you´re good there. On PC it has major graphics issues.
Dead Island should really be played with friends. Solo it isn´t of much fun, in my opinion anyway.
Cant really speak about RAGE.

get rage, my friend has on pc and I've seen the graphical issues, they aren't horrible but get the beta drivers from nvidia they'll boost your performance a lot as well kinda fix the rendering issues. It's very playable and its a mix between Borderlands, Bioshock, Doom 3, and Fallout 3

I'm enjoying Rage a lot. Taking a break form these SRO p-servers to play some good games. I have Deus EX:HR on back burner, got bored after a few hours. But Rage, been playing all weekend. 12 hours of fun so far.
