Ventrillo Mic

Post by Tasdik »

I'm looking to buy a semi-decent mic for vent/ts/whatever. Not really sure if it actually matters, but yeah, any suggestions?

There's usually some decent logitech headsets at walmart if you don't feel like ordering online.

That's what I was planning on doing, but I had no idea how good the quality was on them. But alright, I'll do that. Thanks!

Last year I bought a GE headset from Target for $20 and I'm still using the same mic. Apparently I'm told the mic gives amazing quality; who knew cheap mics would deliver such amazing quality.

Ps. Don't be afraid of the cheap ones.

The Microsoft™ ones are actually really good. Got mine for 30$ I believe. Works as intended.

Don't get the Logitech ClearChat Style™, piece of Farking garbage.

P.S: USB > Audio Cable

My headset for ventrilo cost me £6 and has been working perfectly for around 2 years.

My headset for my gaming pc cost me £59.99 and broke within 6 months.

I could be wrong here, but isn't a large part of how good your microphone sounds got to do with both the quality of your sound card and the quality of the actual Ventrillo/Teamspeak server itself? I'm sure I read on this forum a long time ago someone posting something similar...

*doesn't use microphones online so I'm unsure*

Yes and no. Soundcard/onboard sound is pretty irrelevant unless you're looking for some kind of studio quality input (in which case you'd use much different technology). If the server isn't the greatest sound quality can be sacrificed in place of smoother audio streaming though in this day and age that's fairly unlikely.

If you want something simple get a headset, almost any will do (though don't go buying a 5$ headset, spend something reasonable like 15-20). Though remember there are many headsets heavily marketed towards gamers which are overpriced as hell. I bought a webcam/mic instead, has a much better quality mic than my headset which was $60, and it only cost me $30.

goes on sale time to time.

Personally i already have a set of pretty nice headphones. Since i didn't want to spent more money on a headset i just bought a logitech usb mic, cost me 25 euros, sound quality is great.

If you don't have good headphones yet i'd suggest just looking around in a media store where they sell them, they'd probs have a few models hanging for you to try on.
