CREATE A QUEST FOR SRO

Post by Sutaseyu »

In response to mkaaru's other post, it's just a good idea. If SRO admins are too busy to devise any new quests - then let's devise them for them and hand the information to them on a silver platter :) I may even ask Gargamel if he would be interested in possibly choosing 1 and rewarding the creator. Post away!

Note: This is for single character quests only - guild/group quests will be another post.

O.o

Single Player Quests:
1. A beat the clock race
A person would start at a designated town and talk to an NPC which would give him the quest. The quest would be like “Within (Time Limit) you must get to DH”. There would be three tiers to this quest. Jng-DH, DH-Hotan and Jng-Hotan. The reward for this quest could be gold with a small amount of experience. Also an item (could be a wep or aurm of corresponding degree for example) could be rewarded. Also each server would have a “Top 3” Times for each tier. There would be no bonus except for the fact that you would be known as one of the “Top 3”.

2. Treasure Hunt:
A person would start at a designated town and talk to an NPC to acquire the quest. He would then be presented with a scroll that had some clues inscribed on it. The player would have to decipher the clues and go to the location of where the hidden item is located. (Each item would be player specific. E.g. [Hidden Item 1 *KeyJ]). Once each item has been collected the player would return to the NPC for his reward. Gold and a “special” alchemy item seem appropriate.

3. Monster Alchemy:
A person would start at a designated town and talk to an NPC to acquire the quest. The NPC would instruct the player to go and hunt a certain monster until an item is dropped (Drop rate should be fairly high). The player would have to kill a variety of different monsters and collect all appropriate items. The player would then return to the NPC where he would be instructed to locate (with clue or map directions) a hidden NPC. Once the NPC has been located you give it your items and get in return a potion. You would return to the 1st NPC with the potion and have the option of: Trading it in for a 1. Sum of Gold, 2. Sum of Exp (corresponding to level), 3. Weapon or Aurmour (corresponding to level), 4. A “special” alchemy item. Or you could keep the potion which would have “special” property’s to it. (E.G Large HP/MP increase, Attack/Block/Crit Increase) this potion could be either used a limited number of times for a medium period of time or once for a long period of time.

Well this is all I got so far. I will post more when they come to me

I get more exp grinding on gold/red mobs than i do for a quest. Decided to blow off the quests after 45. I'd just like to see them available earlier.

Ex muijis at 43, white spiders at 44, ishades at 45, yetis at 52, etc.

I have to quote myself from Wishlist - what do you want added to Silkroad? -topic:
Tohak wrote:Timed Quests

General
- Special monster hunt in which player gets quest from NPC to hunt down one special monster in limited time. Monster will be locked to player so that it won't attack anyone else except quest holder and only quest holder can attack that monster. On map an arrow would point to direction of monster. Fight would be measured to be difficult and if successfully kill that monster you're quaranteed for item reward + xp/sp. XP reward could be max 20% of your current level but it would get lower the longer you spend on this quest (reason why it's timed). Would have to be limited how many times you can do this quest a day. There could be also different difficulty level quests with more or less strict timers and reward would be scaled based on difficulty. There also could be solo and 4 member party and 8 member party quests and difficulty of the monster(s) would be scaled on this factor.

Trader / Thief / Hunter
- NPC wants trader to deliver item(s) to another NPC in another town. You would have time limit and the quest would be 2-star trade trip or higher. Rewarded with high amount of XP/SP. Player thieves can of course rob these traders but they will need to have also similar timed quest active or they can't take benefit from robbing those quest items. Similar quest for Hunters could get something like 5x-10x normal hunter xp from player thief that they catch having those quest items (similar to wanted thieves) and player thief would drop "piece of thief suit" -quest item so that the hunter can prove to NPC that he completed the quest and then gets xp/sp reward. XP reward could be around 10% of current level.

Legendary Items

NPC sends you to collect 10 different alchemy items (monster drops, not elements). Some you can get yourself from monsters but if you're too low/high level you'd have to buy some of them from high/low level players that are hunting those monsters since you can't get any drops from those monsters. After you've collected all items you give them to that NPC which in return makes a special elixir from them. Then you combine that special elixir with desired item and hope to make it to legendary item (1%-5% chance). When item becomes legendary it could get some permanent new effect like added fire/lightning/ice/poison damage, permanent character movement bonus, longer weapon range, damage/protection multiplier or unbreakable etc.

x Degree Progression Quest

These quests would become available once you reach the next level degree items (no quests at 1st degree). Each quest would be divided to different levels on that degree so first is given when you can wear first item from that degree and last part is given when you can wear full set of that degree items. This means that each degree full quest is made of 7 different sub-quests. For each sub quest you'll be given choices for reward which could be (you can pick only 1 reward for each sub quest):

- 5% added XP bonus from same degree monsters so if you pick this 7 times, you get total of 35% XP bonus from that degree monsters
- 5% added SP bonus from same degree monsters so if you pick this 7 times, you get total of 35% SP bonus from that degree monsters
- 5% added bonus to job XP (35% total bonus)
- thief: 10% added bonus to gold rewards (max total 70% more gold from loot). Bonus divided by 5 once you reach next degree. If you pick this reward on all degrees on all sub-quests your end bonus at 8th degree would be 6*(70/5)+70 = 154%
- trader: 10% added bonus to the percentage that is given from that trade route ie. Hotan-Jangan is normally about 640% so with these bonuses you'd get total 710%. Bonus diveded by 5 once reach next degree (same as thief bonus)
- hunter: 10% added gold bonus from successfull trade trip you help trader make (I assume job update has been added to game before this quest). Bonus diveded by 5 once reach next degree (same as thief bonus)
- x% bonus damage to the Mastery of your choice. For each sub-quest the bonus gets lower if you choose the same mastery again. Max bonus for one mastery for each degree could be 1+0.8+0.6+0.4+0.2+2*0.1=3.2%. Choosing this bonus for all sub-quests would give you max bonus of 3.2%*7degrees = 22.4% more damage if chosen all bonuses to single mastery.
- x% bonus to defense against the force mastery of your choice, calculation as in bonus damage.
- Gamble card that you can give to NPC in Jangan, you'll have fair chance to win +5, +7, +9 item and small chance for SoM/SoSun item.
... and so on

Each Sub-Quest would take you to instanced dungeon where you have to kill dungeon boss monster (Elite -type monster). You can enter dungeon only solo and can't be in party. Dungeon will consist of many regular/giant and some strong monsters as well. Monsters don't respawn in these dungeons except in boss room where boss can spawn more of them to protect itself (limited amount). Each sub quest dungeon will get harder than the previous one and in last one you will be faced against only Strong monsters (if you remember monster scrolls you know how hard these can be). Each dungeon boss drops quest item that you must return to NPC to get your bonus "perk".

A quest at level 30 that you have to kill all different mobs once, from 1 - 30. You don't know which mobs you still have to kill and which not, you must make sure you have them all and when you have em all you get a message. :D

Riddles:
Aaight so like the name says u get this quest 3 times, once in all towns. Preferably from the jewelerly NPC (actually doesn't matter but he/she fits the best u'll c why).

Well this guy gives u a random riddle, that u r supposed 2 solve. 2 get help u can visit the other quest related NPCs of the town and read their texts carefully 2 find hints 2 solve the riddle.

Once u solve the riddle the NPC lends u sum kind of uber-weapon (or maybe and item) and with that u should kill a monster sumthing like 5-10 lvls above u. Maybe even higher....the higher the lvl of the monster the better the item will be that u get...

2 make the quest more interesting the monster will be SPECIALLY 4 U ! It'll have ur name beside it and u'll need 2 look 4 it in a special area. The god thing is U CHOOSE what lvl the monster should be.

Reward:An SoS/SoM/SoSun item :D :D
---------------------------------
Just as an example:
Jewelery NPC's riddle: "What has 4 legs in the morning, 2 legs in the afternoon and 3 legs in the evening ?" (u all know this 1 :D )

Related NPCs: General Sonyheon or sum other NPC that fits 2 this quest...

Well u cum back, solve the riddle and choose a monster (say ur lvl is 15). Now as know we can choose a monster 5-10 lvls higher so Chakji to Huyungo Ghost Soldier ... I think. Well say u choose the Soldier. Now u go 2 the Huyungo Ghost Land and it's a gaint with ur name on it :D

U kill it, go back 2 the NPC and choose the reward (weapon,protector,jewelery)...SoX of course :D

EDIT: I just read Tohak's ideas and actually I think the idea with the dungeon is very good and could also fit into this quest. It's better than my idea ^^ *praises Tohak*

NPC: I was walking around stalking a girl near hotan and i dropped my keys chain. Sadly mobs broke the chain and my 500 keys were lost..
I know that mobs ate them.
can you go there and get me back my 500 keys please?
I'm waiting in my cold cell, when the bell begins to chime.
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time.
'Cause at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows pole,
The sands of time for me are running low.

Can it be that there's some sort of error.
Hard to stop the surmounting terror.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream.

level 64 quest: 10,000 manyang drops. Drops are 1 in 20 kills. Reward 5M SPexp (12,500SP). Sure its tedious as hell, but the reward is nice.

i think it will take a lot more then creating some quest out of the blue without thinking it through properly.

* quests would have to involve monsters in a certain area that correspond within the level of the character (2 level difference maximum)

* if there were to be new quests would they have to fit in between the existing quests or do we want multiple quests in one level? naturally we would like to be given a choice on what quest we want to complete, there's no fun at all when there's only one quest available and its forced down your throat so you can collect the reward.

* currently there are NO quests in between the levels of 41 till 44 (four levels without quest) and between 54 and 58 (four levels without quest) where the player has to gain experience by killing monsters without a clear purpose in order to levelup. Both these level "gaps" need to be filled with proper quest that "quests would have to involve monsters in a certain area that correspond within the level of the character". For example we could create a quest at level 41 that would involve the level 41/42 monsters of "Red- Darkey Ghosts"and for level 42 or 43 the monsters "maongs" which are level 43. Use the same approach for levels 54-58 and correspending level monsters. (you catch my drift).

* which NPC in which town should provide the character with the new quest, and what storyline should the quest have? So a decent screenwriter would be at place in order to write an entertaining and adventurous quest!

* how much reward should the character be given upon succesfully completing his quest? what type of reward should be given: a special item, character experience, skill experience points, gold etc

* what type of quest should be thought of? yet another quest that involves killing a certain monster and collect certain amount items they drop? should we kill a monster and pray for the love of god that the item you seek drops as fast as humanly possible (reference: the lost sword quest).

* As many players choose to lean multiple skill trees the need for skill points becomes a necessity, however the existing quests do NOT have any sizable reward of SP. With silkroad online the quests tend to lean more towards rewarding character experience rather then skill experience points. Implement a whole new string of quests where the player can choose multiple quests in a level and then between a quests that rewards either char experience points or a reasonable amount of skill points to further upgrade the chars skills (5~10% of total SP gained during respective level).

or rather introduce me to the GM's and let me work at Joymax rofl

A Quest where you have to get 3k+ Arrange Points as a thief. And when you finish the quest, make it back to THIEF town whiles still wanted. Meaning you're gonna have to Bandit Scroll hehe. The reward would be the 1mil thief suit in your gender, and some sp. like... 500+ sp... lolz.

I think it would be ownage lolz.

Riddles are cool :) Anyone remember game Betrayl at Krondor? It had riddle chests all around the wilderness, answer word length varied from 3 to 12 letters so some chests were easy to open and some harder. Only downside for riddles is that answers would be recorded and posted to guides so solving them becomes easy. Maybe some sort of randomizing could be used for riddles?

how about an alchemy quest.

the npc gives you an item that he wants you to alchemy, telling you exactly what he wants the item to look like afterwords, he give you a few special tablets and elixers (ones that never fail) and tells you where to go to get the certain materials to make the elements to make the stones to add to the item.

You make the item and show it to him, and in return you get a choice of SP or the item you made. (the item wouldnt be a godly item, just something like a weapon of your degree that you have to make into a weapon with str, int, and make it +3 or so.)

**this is just a rough idea, but i would like to see some alchemy quests like this**

this would just teach people how to use alchemy, it would nto be realistic becuase the stones you make are special and they dont fail, however the person should at least understand alchemy better afterwords.

Random generation of SUDOKU puzzles ^^ and to make things harder it would replace the numbers with weapons from 1-9th degree (ok maybe that would be a lil too evil for people who haven't memorized the sets)
