So over the summer i've been working in the most succesful ophthalmology practice in the north american north eastern portion of the country and I've made quite a pretty penny. Now that my time there is almost over I have questions over how I should spend some of the money i've accumulated.
I know that I've always wanted a beast gaming computer but thinking about it I should make a smart decision. I know it would help but college is right around the corner.,...
Should I invest in a high end desktop or save my money and get a laptop for college? Or does anyone else have any other idea of what would be a smart way to allocate the money? (roughly 1.5k USD)

College laptop depends on your Major or Course lineup. Some people think you need to go all out, but unless your majoring in something computer related(be it hardware, or software) then you can settle with something around $500-$600 and still be plenty.

and $700-800 for a desktop

Go for the cheapest non terrible laptop you can find with good battery life and get yourself a "beast computer" for what I believe is no more than 700 bucks now.

I'm in a similar situation. I decided to buy laptop (haven't decided what kind and I'm going to need srfs help later) since, at least in finnish universities, it's pretty essential.

I also have few weeks before the uni starts so I'm going to London as I explained in other thread.
