Couldn't find a thread about it so, will you play now that Blizzard announced they would put a RMAH (real money auction house)?
Also they said it would be ONLINE ONLY which sucks for some people with higher ping/latency.

What class would you guys play at first?

I will definitely play because I loved Diablo 2 and the entire Diablo lore and the RMAH might be a good way to make some extra money since I'm poor as fuck. I would probably make a sorc or wizard or whatever they call it because I think they would be good item farmers.

I seriously think this is a terrible idea. You can literally pay to win and gold companies can legitly have a business with Blizzard taking a fee out of every sale. Genius I'd say.

The RMAH is better then 3rd parties selling items like d2. I can make money now which I'm down for. But I'm rolling a witch doctor. And the online play is so they can't make item dupe hacks and such.

I think it's a good idea. MF botting and item buying were prolific in D2. Like in real life, the economies of games are always controlled by a small group of individuals; well connected with item buyers, chinese bots, and gold resellers. Setting up the economy in the way that they did will, I think, de-centralize the economy.

You can complain that it removes the sense of achievement and dulls the fruit of hard work but in Diablo 2 that's always how it has been. This is a game where you could be rushed to the end, completely bypassing all content, and then farm an end game boss until max level. For all intents and purposes, it took about 5 hours, or less, to reach end game.

Anyone that has PvPed a lot in Diablo 2 would know that character skill plays a huge role. Equipment helps, but an under geared skilled player always wins. If D3 is anything like D2, the PvE aspect will only serve 2 goals: finding equipment for PvP and levelling for PvP. The story is enjoyable and you are able to solo the whole game as it lacks raids and instances. But, if you're talking about an unfair advantage because of money bought items, you're only concerned with PvP.

I would hope that players would be rewarded for their play. Some BoP gear, even if only for aesthetics, and things like titles and a public achievement log would be nice.

Blizzard has the golden touch. As far as I can remember, every game that they have made has been of top quality and greatly successful. I trust their confidence in this model and if it fails I simply won't play.

On the topic of Diablo 3, for some reason the game doesn't seem that exciting. I've played Diablo 2 with my friends when I was kid like you wouldn't believe it but for some reason Diablo 3 seems dull. I think a portion of the fanbase will be disappointed because Diablo 3 won't be as innovative as Diablo 2 was back then.

always online DRM -> sucks not that much for me personally, and i don't see any reason to have it.
RMAH-> bleh, nothing will change with goldfarmers , only now activision-blizzard grabs money for themselves.
no mods-> biggest dissapointment, modding was great on D2 and added a huge amount of replayability.

The RMAH, allows the PLAYER to make money, thus eventually saying you got Diablo 3 free by selling items on D3.


I Don't see why people dont like this, it will help out players, and it will stop having shady 3rd party websites do all the selling themselves. Atleast this way the Company and player can cash out. Where as Blizzard will only get money when you put stuff up on the auction house and when something is sold on the RMAH.

How is the game having offline capability going to bring in bots? How did modders ruin the mark? Hacker? There will ALWAYS be hackers for ANY game, doesn't matter if it's online or not. What about people who constantly have high ping because of where they live and still want to play the game? Are they excluded from the game because of their internet?

they have battle.net2 security, which increases on how much they will be getting rid of the bots/hacks that DO/MIGHT come to be in Diablo 3.

Just because you need to have an online connection doesnt mean you have to have a bad ping.

I haven't either. But RMAH is Real Money Auction House. which lets players sell there items for money on one of the two auction houses (GAH is gold auction house)

So instead of having 3rd party scam/sites the player can make the money. Which is the only reason im looking forward to this game to make some spare cash lol.

Its like TF2 hat selling, but better. and If I do find an extremely rare item im going to price that for as much as I can so I can buy other games, and cash out to get other junk irl. lol.

I've unboxed 2 unusal hats in 3 crates, havent bought a single key yet, but have gotten a rough 500+$ from selling 7 unusals.

Im close to getting another unusal and selling that for some money to actually buy this game.

So much whining and complaints going on everywhere since those infos leaked. I'm laughing at those saying they won't buy the game anymore because of the real money market. They obviously have no clue what is going on in D2 and most MMO.

I (even if I never really did it) would rather buy my stuff from Blizzard itself, than from some 3rd party company that you might get scammed off. Even if Blizzard keeps a %, who care?

If it can slow down the illegal trading and gives everyone the same access to the items, why not. If you dont want to spend extra money, then dont. Keep in mind that even if Blizzard did not do this, there would have still some people buying stuff illegaly. So its not really Blizzard who wants to give an unfair advantage to those paying extra cash, its the RPG/MMO market that is this way.

As for internet needed, we are in 2011, that should not be a problem for most. And well the real fun of Diablo is the online play... Anyway there might have a crack released to just play offline and bypass the protection.

I agree with most of this.
People are complaining about the RMAH, yet if it wasn't implented then 3rd party sites would rule.
And if we only had a gold auction house, they would most likely sell gold, thus using it on the GAH. Also, its regionalized, so we wont have a ton of farmers in NA. I rather get money for selling items and give a small two time % of putting the auction up, and it actually selling.

Except the difference between the two. More people will be open to purchase the items instead of playing for them. It opens the market to a larger audience, because it's completely legal within the game. I'm not very fond of the idea, but I won't buy any from it. In fact I'll sell with it. That is another thing that will affect the game. A ton of people will be open to sell their items allowing the items to be very cheap. In time many items would sell for little to nothing.

Is it a win-win situation? Sure I suppose. Everyone that purchase the game will be able to sell their items for their time spent to obtain it. Gold companies will be able to sell their items legitly or still sell through their sites for a bigger profit. Blizzard gets a share of the cut. And then people that don't have enough time to play the game can just purchase the items.

One thing I am glad for is no bind on equip. That is the one feature that I'm glad they removed and hate, but it's needed. Needed to prevent the sellers. Needed for people to play the game.

So go ahead and call my thoughts whining. I don't care.
