Not like that matters. Growing up in a public school I had to go to the lunch room and you know what every did? Yeah. High school? Yeah. I would have expected people to grow up by then, but guess not.

For the ones wondering, from what I've heard Ramadan is a way to "simulate" in some way how poor people live. Yes yes I know, it's probably nothing like how they actually live because they don't get a meal at the end of the day, but the intention is there.

I could honestly wreck this no problem if we could drink water. The only thing I wanted to do today at work was to drink water.

I always go "Oh shit" when Ramadan is near but deep down I kind of like the challenge. :sohappy:

Not so much. It's about patience, spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God.

"The evenings are spent enjoying family and community meals, engaging in prayer and spiritual reflection, and reading from the Qu'ran."

"During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking."

Only one thing u misunderstood is sex thing.Husband-wife may have a sex at night until fasting time begins.

-If you r ill or u r in a journey so u dont have to do fasting.
-After ramadan all muslims should pay money to poor ppl.
-After ramadan 3 days holiday.Little kids knocking doors and asking sugars, chocolate just like halloween.

so it's basically telling you to be nice to the not so fortunate.

This is a serious question. Am I the only one who likes to be nice because I want to and not because I am told to. Like if someone asks me to do something nice to someone I am like "I don't wanna D:" but if someone doesn't tell me to do that exact same thing I would do it.

Wait here a second , don't talk about what you don't know , nobody forces young children to fast , The first year i fasted i did it with my own will , My parents wanted me to wait a year or two more , i wasn't forced and it wasn't painful at all .

Been fasting since 1st grade , i am now entering 10th , so what's your point here ?

Oh and people seem more active here in ramadan than in other months .
So in the first week in college i went with jeans and the pajama's shirt. Didn't notice what i was wearing till after i returned home.

Ur absolutely right.Pushing is forbiden in islam but islam religion was misinterpreted by stupid radical islamist groups. For example they r yelling jihad jihad.Jihad means to protect islam against evil things.Muhammed and his ppl protected Kur'an against idolatrous ppl and this was jihad.

One thing is true that u cant choose ur religion. If ur family is christian so u become a christian. If ur family worshiphing monkey so u have to do.Radical islamist, christian, seminists shitting this word that is why i hate religion thing.Somethimes i think humanity is the worst thing for the world and total annihilation is needed for the sake of this planet :D

Not true. Just because your parents worship something doesn't mean you'll end up worshiping it. Your not ALWAYS forced to become something your not.

Speaking of which, I have this bi-sexual co-worker, she has a son, but is currently in a "relationship" with another girl. Last night, she was like, "My son's totally going to be gay, bi, or at least try being either of those once or twice".

Her son is 5. GG. :palm:

And wait, does this mean no SRO for turks for a month?

The two major religions in our society are based on books which were written 1500 to 2000 years ago. Why would you even bother believing in something that was written so long ago, and probably doesn't exist?
Even if there would be something like a god or allah or what you want to call it, why would you torture yourself? To show you are a good muslim or christian? The way you show yourself good to the rest of the world, is behaving responsibly. Be good to everyone next to you and the environment.
I can tell you I'm an atheist and still have the same ethics as are described in the bible/torah/quran, but I don't need a religion.

On topic: You will still be the same good person if you don't fast and just live like you do normally. Or do you think your sins will be forgiven if you torture yourself for one month?

I can guarantee you that children in ultra religious areas are probably forced into fasting, and while that doesn't mean it represents a majority of the people who practice the religion I can tell you that a bunch of ultra religious people are distorting these rules and are imposing it on their children that they must fast. As well not to be an ass but I think more then so kids who are of age to fast probably really don't want to fast, but know there will be serve consequences to them so they are forced to fast and please don't tell me this isn't the case because we all know how important honour is to muslims (As with other religions) who take religion to the extreme.

last year there was floods in Pakistan and western Europe and north america put a large amount of money into getting helicopters to drop food supplies into camps where these people needed help.

helicopters couldnt fly at night due to not being able to clearly identify groups of people between wreckage and flames so only flew in the day time...

now i am not religious at all but the moment religion causes people dieing of hunger and malnutrition to not eat is the moment i stopped supporting aid foundations.

some things that were provided were diseased by night time due to a few factors:
heat (causing bacteria to thrive on food and water products)
waterborne diseases (remember... floods = water lol)
hygiene (people had no homes.. how could they shower or wash)
no storage (ahh some berries! lets just cool them off in the refrigerator.. crap..)

I think the reason why it does not happen in a christmas thread is because it is not an odd ball thing. Many religions have something simular maybe not the same day. Because it's an odd ball it's going to get questions because it's not fully understood.

So you believe grade 5 and 6 children have the knowledge to know about religion and able to critical think on issues like religion which have been forced upon them? Give me a Farking break, most kids at grade 5 believe the boggy man and the Easter bunny are real. Now somewhere along the lines of 15 is reasonable, but don't give me this shit that a grade 5 or 6 can come to an objective understanding of a religion. They also feel the need to do it so they don't become ostracized from their family and the people closed to them. And don't tell it it's being taken under the care of god... If that is so why are there millions of people right now in the horn of Africa (many of whom are Muslim) suffering from the worst drought in recent times? But you know what would be a great idea I personally think which anyone fasting should think about would be donating the money saved up which would be spent on food, which isn't due to fasting so you can help the poor and suffering from the drought.

By the way I find it funny the guy who believes Amy Winehouse is more important then a doctors who save peoples lives, calling me a hypocrite for some odd reason for say I idolize doctors who help the poor more then I idolize Amy Winehouse... What kind of narcissistic piece of shit would idolize Amy Winehouse a person who denied any help and eventually overdosed on drug, over surgeons and doctors who save peoples lives?

And as well don't give me this crap i haven't been around Muslims and don't know them... I live the freaking Greater Toronto area, don't give miss this crap, there are a bunch of Muslims around here, and this past semester of school was centered around group research projects in which the majority of my group was Muslim. So don't pull that bullshit. Lol at going to ultra-hate religious sites... Buddy I take an objective few through looking at multiple news sites, I don't hate religion I just hate stuff being forced upon young people.

Anyways I hope some of you are good people and maybe try and take up the offer to donate to the people in the horn of Africa with the money they save from fasting, it would do great help to the people there.

Sorry about derailing the thread more..

I started it during 2nd grade with my own will after thinking "I could do it." Considering sun went down at 4~5pm ish it was easy since got out of school. Play for a bit and it was dinner time.

I really hate how we can never have a decent conversation. Though when it comes to Christmas oh boy it's a good conversation of how much we hate our presents! I really hate you guys. I tend to delete my post a few seconds after I write something up, because I think to myself "I'm just being an ass." Which tends to throw the topic off it's direction either the entire thread (which in this case is happening) or for a page or two
