Get yourself a good pair of Doc Martins. They are simply the most comfortable shoes, ever. Or any pair of good quality steel cap boots would suffice, actually. Practical and insanely comfortable at the same time and if your lucky you should be able to claim them back on tax.

When I feel like running around or playing ball, my best bet is to use rubber shoes + sole/arch support gel.

You didn't specify what type 0.o

I think it's important to have a couple pairs so you don't wear them down right away. I rotate mine based on trouser colour so they're all almost brand new despite some of them being over 2 years old.

My work shoes minus the flip flops:

Mirin rug. Srs. I've been looking for one for my new place and that would be perfect!

OnTopic: Thick rubber soles and a custom orthotic insert would probably be best.

I'm moving at the end of August and that rug won't look right on the floor because of the wood colour. If I could I would mail it to you. I'm just throwing it out.

My work shoes. Waterproof, sturdy, good to stand on for a long time, good to stamp crates/boxes with nails in them. You can get them with a steel nose as well afaik.
