An unofficial complaint

Post by mKaaru »

A couple of things that i (and probably a majority of you reading this) am NOT so happy about:

* NO official word from Joymax what so ever concerning the compensation event promised weeks ago to the people from a certain server.

* Communication issues; information on future updates and perhaps a timeschedule when certain features will be implemented. An updated ban list, haven't seen any for months and there are LOTS of people to be banned. Sure the notices that Crayon and co send every now and then when they decide to show up is a way of communicating with your community, but not everybody might be logged in on SRO at the time. Learn to communicate with those who play your lovely game in a better fashion, try to utilize that website of yours a bit better (but avoid using the crappy forum).

* Website issues: The structure of ISRO website isn't customer friendly at all, no clear overview and the frontpage is clearly lacking in comparison to its Korean counterpart. Low security forum as we all have discovered recently. Also lacking community support (not counting the poorly devised forum) without having an (un)official fansite, no means to upload screenshots or have interaction with other members.

* Server issues; server sided disconnects (??? dc error), server sided delay / time-outs etc which are all NOT the cause of outdated gfx drivers.

* GameGuard errors: yeah we all know this background security program sux and does more harm then it would to protect us but even when a small minority of players encounter an error with GG then it should be formally addressed by Joymax.

* Botting issues, we all know the gold farm bots but the real problem lies with the Player Bots that seem to have a clean path botting their char from level 1 all the way to 70. Do we legit players really need to look at these accounts bot their way to the levelcap with the occasional mass KS doing so? On a sidenote: how can we play the game as the monsters we're supposed to kill are all taken by gold farm bots 10 levels above the respective mob they humiliate?

* Scamming issues: Known player accounts that scam/steal real money from other players in exchange for gold to buy Silk. Is it truly THAT hard to ban these accounts for a mere few weeks/months or in the worst case for life?

* Service issies: Only 3 (what for us seems inactive) GM's for a total of 12(?) servers where the appointed Silk Assistants also seem near invisible. Can we even speak of customer support? Thousands of accounts spread accross a dozen servers depend on these three chosen ones so can they handle the pressure? Is there even such a thing as CUSTOMER SUPPORT with this game?

* Monkey/Squirrel inventory: why are there 4 pages in total while we can only use one? We paid 8 dollars on such a pet and most pay 5 dollars a month to lenghten its rental period. Why aren't there more filters on what items the monkey/squirrel can pick up? Such as elements, equipment, gold, ARROWS, Elixers etc.

* Mounts: almost every decent MMO has such a feature and it sux to go buy a new horse every single time and let it die just to get off... and i know we'll never get those even when the action button has been implemented in the game (quite logical?)

* Lack of organised events: self explanatory, these make the game fun and enjoyable to play but we haven't seen an event in months now.

* PVP system flawed: there's is no real PVP area, only caping in area's which are considered NOT to be safezones. The 1v1 or teambased combat is out of the order with this game, it's a gangbang when you put your cape on.

* Lack of "Dungeons": while WoW and other MMO games have their instances we got jackshit OR.... we could consider the cave to be such a thing as we all mass gather to destroy thousands of weak mobs instead of one all powerfull being! \o/

* Insufficient amount of "uniques": The game boasts 3 unique monster bosses with our current level cap (that being 70), which isnt nearly enough for the thousands of players in a single server that would like to hunt down and kill one. But then again we'll have Yarkan at 80 and the other 90, long wait ahead and just more high level accounts to one hit Tiger Girl.

* Lack of Quests: self explanatory

* Team orientated events / quests: all we do is grind by our lonesome and click the same bunch of buttons over and over in order to complete some quest that adds nothing to your game experience (seeing there is no real storyline). The only team orientated events that one might consider to be such a thing would be the guild war feature.

* Credit Card Fraud: is it that hard to implement an extra string of code that prevents dummy accounts at level 1 to buy AND use alchemy items intended for level 64~77 equipment?

* Item Mall product, the alchemy items: the higher level we get the more money joymax tries to squeeze out of their "customer". The higher level character you have the more money you'll need to spend on correspending alchemy items such as Astral and Immortal. In order to make your level 64~72 failsafe from failing entchantment at +4 people need to buy both alchemy stones for a combined price of 9.20 USD (92silk). No wonder people resort themselves to CCF in order to +5 or +7 their equipment!

* Golden / Silver ticket question: why do we have to join a shared party in order to secure the time left on our golden ticket? why isn't there the option to turn off the ever running clock on your golden ticket when you dont need it (such as jobbing or caping) and you can turn it on when you're ready to resume training/grinding/question/farming?

and there's so much more about this game i could complain about but i'll leave that up to you. the SA's could consider adding all this to their list of complaints, bug reports etc so we might see some improvement in certain area's of the game.

Yea basically the isro team at Joymax blows ass.

Note: The silk assistants are not gm's, They have no special power and
actually have to pay for globals like everyone else so take that into consideration.

Happens in every MMO, really. Were I sure it wasn't breaking of the rules, I'd be happy to interest you to a variety of auction sites that cater specifically to in-game items, gold, accounts, and everything else possible..

You do have quite a few good points there.

But all we can do is hope that Joymax will one day implement some of these things.

One extra suggestion I have myself (which has probably been suggested by someone else before). Why not make an auction house as they have in wow? This would help alot in solving the lag in towns also (since there will be no more stalls).

Just my 2 cents.
God is unavailable right now. Can I help you?

I'll respond point by point below:

[quote="mKaaru"]A couple of things that i (and probably a majority of you reading this) am NOT so happy about:

* NO official word from Joymax what so ever concerning the compensation event promised weeks ago to the people from a certain server.

Agreed. I have asked three times about this issue. When GM's don't want to answer something, they don't. They don't want to answer this one apparently.

Again, not only agreed, but completely agreed. I asked for an update list back in July I think? So that I could post, discuss etc and give people something to look forward to other than monotonous grind with a bunch of bots. The official response was we'll ask and see if it's ok - and have never heard another word since.

Agreed. Cham even provided a screen shot of faulty code - we have yelled, discussed and ranted and raved. I'm sorry but I guess the only solution is for people to complain through bug reports - NOT SPAM - but a large community outcry. But as it stands don't use sro.net forums.

* Server issues; server sided disconnects (??? dc error), server sided delay / time-outs etc which are all NOT the cause of outdated gfx drivers.

Yes this has gotten increasingly more and more buggy. I wondered about this, because in a small effort to fix the people spawning oxen over the NPC's issue, I noticed u can no longer click directly beside the pots lady. This and the ??? may be utterly unrelated, but in my experience lol every time one thing gets fixed another goes wrong....

* GameGuard errors: yeah we all know this background security program sux and does more harm then it would to protect us but even when a small minority of players encounter an error with GG then it should be formally addressed by Joymax.

Again, agreed. I personally don't have trouble wtih GG [knock on wood] - and I think the only way to really look after this is to let the SA's know. If GG goes down [usually Sunday in korea historically] make posts here, and I will follow up with GM's.

Again lol wish I could say something new - WE AGREE. EVERYBODY AGREES. I was speaking to a player ingame last night that used to play another mmo - this game closed down because all the real players left and the company went bankrupt....only the bots were left. Sound familiar?

* Scamming issues: Known player accounts that scam/steal real money from other players in exchange for gold to buy Silk. Is it truly THAT hard to ban these accounts for a mere few weeks/months or in the worst case for life?

I have been successful, as have SA's from other servers, in having some of these accounts removed. To be utterly honest with you, it's a lot of work to have only the global chat account removed - these people don't keep the huge amount of silk on the account they r globalling from - so it doesn't remove the silk only the noob they global from. At the end of the day if I have a lot to do, I have to admit this is last on my list. I have held meeting after meeting on Babel to make ppl understand that they will get scammed. I'm hoping education will thwart this. Of course a dedicated ingame GM would also solve this problem....

OK well there are 2 parts to this. Now apparently there was a new GM hire a bit back, however at the time I was under the impression that this person was to remain anonymous. Somewhere someone mentioned that he hadn't picked a name yet - his real name is posted in our SA forum somewhere if I remember right. Anyhow regardless - 3 or 4 - still not enough. As to the customer service - I think honestly it's a cultural issue. North American children, teens and adults are trained consumers - we expect merchants to earn our dollar - because of the way the economy is set up, competition is a bitch. I have to wonder if Koreans just aren't culturally different in this aspect. I played another Korean mmo before this and it was the same thing - didn't care, say things 2 pacify, but never deliver. So there is no solution for that, except don't play Korean mmo's lol.

Yep been asked - at least 10 times for sure. The answer to a post similar to this once was "All of these changes require programming and time - so what is more important - bots or arrows?" Good point lol. Altho solution still would b to hire more staff.

* Mounts: almost every decent MMO has such a feature and it sux to go buy a new horse every single time and let it die just to get off... and i know we'll never get those even when the action button has been implemented in the game (quite logical?)

Been asked - never replied. Can ask again if you like, but see above answer to last question - I'm assuming the answer will end up being along those lines too lol.

* Lack of organised events: self explanatory, these make the game fun and enjoyable to play but we haven't seen an event in months now.

God no kidding eh. I have held some events on Babel, but they are at MY expense for globals and prizes. Generally it costs me about $5 mill/event. Well given the inflated cost for any 8th degree items, I need to be careful about how often I do this personally. Point was raised for at least one monthly event - no response. Point was raised about GM presence - in June Gargamel responded with he will try to be present on the servers more often - but then he ended up embroiled in the GWNGCSWCGHECSCECGCWC thing and was too busy.

* PVP system flawed: there's is no real PVP area, only caping in area's which are considered NOT to be safezones. The 1v1 or teambased combat is out of the order with this game, it's a gangbang when you put your cape on.

Well heck - ask Chaud - a good gangbang is fun now and then :D

* Lack of "Dungeons": while WoW and other MMO games have their instances we got jackshit OR.... we could consider the cave to be such a thing as we all mass gather to destroy thousands of weak mobs instead of one all powerfull being! \o/

mmk the issue of "instances" is one that is unique to each mmo. Some hard core mmo'ers don't want instances - it removes you from gameplay involving other ppl and therefore, in their opinions, reduces the value of the gameplay and part of the challenge. So while I can ask, this is one of the features of SRO that I believe either makes it great for some ppl and turns others away. I personally don't want to play an instanced mmo - however you know, on a night where the bots r insane - it would be nice to be able to choose to just grind in peace and quiet.

It would be nice if they would spawn every hour. Or 2 even. Will bring this up.

* Lack of Quests: self explanatory

Enough said. Watch for a new post regarding this.

* Team orientated events / quests: all we do is grind by our lonesome and click the same bunch of buttons over and over in order to complete some quest that adds nothing to your game experience (seeing there is no real storyline). The only team orientated events that one might consider to be such a thing would be the guild war feature.

These are expected to come in one of the updates - guild quests have been in the help files from as far back as February. However, to date it's obviously not been implemented.

* Credit Card Fraud: is it that hard to implement an extra string of code that prevents dummy accounts at level 1 to buy AND use alchemy items intended for level 64~77 equipment?

Yep it must be. Because as soon as the CCF'ing really started - we made this VERY suggestion. Seems extremely simple to us, doesn't it? A lvl 1 noob doesn't need a lvl 8 astral stone, plain and simple. This horse has been beaten to death, but if anyone has a res scroll and can lend it to me, I'll res it and throw the horse's abused body at the SA forum for one more go :)

Yep agreed. Reduced prices = increased sales. Ask Walmart how that works :D Will mention your comment tho.

Again great point - will add this to my comments.

and there's so much more about this game i could complain about but i'll leave that up to you. the SA's could consider adding all this to their list of complaints, bug reports etc so we might see some improvement in certain area's of the game.

If I can add a little bug to the list : AOE on skills (nukes, ghost spear series, kd book2) doesn't work on npc thieves when your wear a thief suit.
Example : you're thiefing in jangan side with your Ox full of shit. Let's say a 3*. And then, suddenly, you have 3 npc thieves around you and a hungry white tiger. Self confident about your skills, you target one of the thieves, imbue and send a good GSM to show them who's the master.
Here is what happens : the thief you targeted is hurt. The white tiger too (and probably dead unless you have a big damage problem). But the 2 other npc thieves are unharmed.
Note that it would be the same with a fire nuke book3. Each of these skills is supposed to hit 5 targets within range so no problem with that. And it's not a range problem neither a lag. I'm used to these skills and definitely know when it should hit and when it can not.

Not a very big problem, but annyoing, since it makes 5* veru hard to solo.
Main char : Kanior

yeah I mean there's nothing we can do but stop playing which is hard because sro is unfortunatly addictive ><. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to just make some parts of this game better, my opinion is joymax is very very fking lazy. And they will never give that event that they promised lol. :banghead:

Nice list. Just a few things i picked out that i feel are not issues are the mounts and instances. The buying the mounts and potions, basically any type of expandable in this game is a gold sink. Trust me we need them. They actually need more to offset the damage the gold bots have done.

And you do not want instant zones in this game. People would be able to bot without ruining their rep. At least now you can pick them out and either kill them or avoid them.

LOL u know we asked this very question about the elixirs at possibly the 2nd meeting, maybe 3rd? Gargamel said no ppl will complain if they drop by accident and lose a stack of elixirs - the complaints would be enormous. Seriously that was the answer xD - I think he was thinking along the lines of ppl dropping pots and dropping an elixir by accident...but I never could honestly see how the risks would outweight the benefits. Altho this was before they implemented the alert when dropping something. We've also very strongly requestedt he abillity to separate items in storage - anyone doing alchemy spends 50k just to restash the stupid elements. So good points all, will bring them up again :)

The more posts I read the more I regret buying 100 silk... :( I certainly won't buy more, on account of the fact that I'm no longer sure if I even wish to play. We'll see how WOW trial is...

It's such a shame though, because this could be an insanely awesome game for being F2P. I don't believe they're lazy at JM...I read once that they merely created our version of SRO to get more silk subscribers and hence more money. They make it so very easy to buy silk, but to even have a question or probem directly answered to seems highly unlikely at the same time. I mean come on, they won't ban the botters. Last F2P game I played would put out a massive ban list every few months...

We are merely a tool used to get more money I reckon. :(

i wasted 9 months of my time on this game

I can understand that. What I have worked out in the coming years so many MMO's will come out and put SRO to shame and many have already. Don't spend to much time or money on any one of those. Just enjoy the game and relax. That is why we play games right?

Your talking to a guy who wasted.. I mean wasted 6 years on everquest. I think I had something like 681 days played.. Thats out of a 24 hour day. Were did all that play time get me? A toon that kicked ass on a game that is soon going to be dead. Untold amount of money spent on add on's and monthly fees.

Enjoy this game because it will not be long before we all move on to the next one.
