HELP!

So I put my Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo Mark 2 in my laptop to read, everything was fine for the first 20 minutes. I was able to view the pictures, move them and everything. Then, suddenly, my computer tells me that I need to format my card to be able to use it! I took my card out and put it back into my cam and my cam says that the format is invalid.

What the **** just happened? All my pictures so far from my vacation are on my memory stick and now it's telling me to format it.

I've googled solutions, and the one that seems like it'll work but with the risk of losing all my pics is this:

Can anybody help, or has anybody encountered this problem before?
