The story here is a sad one. A little boy named Lawrence King was undoubtedly and unabashedly gay. He was teased a lot during his short life for his effeminate ways. Finally, in the weeks leading up to the shooting, he starting owning his sexuality. He started dressing in heels and wearing makeup. Some say he started to say to other boys, "I love you."

Brandon McInerney, another boy, shot him twice in the head during a computer class.

The prosecution of this case revolves not around Brandon's guilt, but motive. District Attorneys contend that Brandon admired White Supremacy, and a tenet of those beliefs is that gays are abhorrent and worthless. The defense argues that young Larry's homosexual advances drove Brandon to an emotional breaking point, which ultimately led to the shooting.

I really dont have anything against gay people, I have gay friends and I enjoy spending time with them. But I would really feel awkward if they showed up out of nowhere with high heels and dresses.... My gay friends even call those obnoxious people ****... and they separate themselves from them... and telling people "i love you" is pushing the limit.
Still not hardcore enough to get shot to death though... but close

i agree i remember last year some gay kid showed up to school in a adult diaper to school and most of the gay kids called him gayer than gay... those kinds of gays should get a little help lol not saying its bad but cmon' really?

how can the defense expect to get voluntary manslaughter if the dude brought a gun from home to school and ended up shooting someone to death? This is premeditated as hell, should be easy enough for the prosecution.

Sad story. I know some gay kids at my school. Not friends with many of them, but the ones I am friends with are pretty cool. I think Lawrence kinda went a little far with it though. The way he was acting, I wouldn't want to be with the guy, but he sure as hell didn't deserve to get shot.

Yes I know what the defense is arguing, but imo that goes out the window when you take a gun to school to kill someone.

From wikipedia:

Voluntary Manslaughter sometimes called a "Heat of Passion" murder, is any intentional killing that involved no prior intent to kill, and which was committed under such circumstances that would "cause a reasonable person to become emotionally or mentally disturbed."

First Degree Murder is any murder that is willful and premeditated. Felony Murder is typically first degree.

I hate that Defense attorneys would defend something as blatant an obviously disturbing as this and use an excuse as stupid as "He was drove to an emotional breaking point". It seems it a little premeditated to me. Why would the gun have even been brought by him? And what the **** are his parents teaching him?

If a gay person said "I love you" to me, I'd be pretty weirder out, but at most tell him to Stfu. This kid needs locked up for life. Especially if he's gonna shoot someone for being Gay in today's society.

The irony here is, In prison he's gonna be "Gay"

It's a lot more complicated than being able to 'walk free', but they don't receive a life sentence.

Actually, the article said that in some of the other kid's testimonies, they mentioned that the murderer had said that he planned to "rush the other kid after school" or even "shank him" so your conclusion isn't too far fetched.
