Anyone else a bit creeped out by this? Specially when they mentioned how another star was just a hologram performing on stage.

lol, i don't find that too weird, they took the features from each girl that they thought looked best, and created person.
However, was this a typo, or is japan even more insane:
"She was the latest addition to a Japanese girl group with millions of superfans, who vote each year on which of the group's 61 members is the most popular, with the winner announced in an internationally televised awards ceremony."
61!!!! members? You can't have 61 members and call yourself a band. wtf Japan.
Also
Saw the video of that Hologram Singer girl, although IMO, batshit crazy. The hologram itself is pretty awesome

Yes, Jpop and Kpop both have at least one band with a shitload of members that just doesn't make sense.
I'm surprised the forum attention whore hasn't already weighed in on the topic.

That's pretty cool. I wonder if Gorillaz has done a hologram concert. I remember watching them projected though.

Well, if you knew about Hatsune Miku you would understand, really.
As for other holograms, like OP post, well if you got real girls... why do we make holograms? Now that's stupid, but I think it's bout revenues and profiting.

Sure looks similar to that hologram performance. That hologram stuff sure is amazing though.
BTW rather have Madonna than those idols all day any day.

AKB48 Is the biggest girl group in the world (I knew of the rotating members but didn't know they were adding up. thought they stayed with 48 constant). Following is Girl2School, consisting of 20 members from Korea.
Then follows the 9 member line, with SNSD and After School, and lately they're all getting bigger. After School started with 5, then +1-1+2+1+1 T-ara recently added a new one too (now 7) and Rania has 8.
The biggest boy group is still Super Junior with 13, although there have been rumors for over a year there's a 21 boy group coming up.
