Top single player RPG's etc: Do you finish them?

Hey guys,

Thought I'd create another topic since I haven't made one in ages. The subject is as the title suggests. I realize the contents of this topic is other games, but the conversation is not so I posted it in OTL

Recently, I've been getting quite frustrated at my gaming style. I have bought countless top single palyer games (and multiplayer) that I just never finish... I'll enjoy them for a while and slowly get bored of them... I end up playing them again after a while when I tell myself: finish it, you bought the damn game and it's a good game too.. and then I'll get bored of them again..

Some of these are:
All the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games in the series. Played all of them around 20 hours.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas +all DLC's. Played Fallout 3 twice and almost finished it twice. New vegas once and got around 40 hours of gameplay in and was halfway in the game.
Mass Effect 1/2: another great hit, barely got halfway..
Far Cry 2: Played it twice, got to around 50% finished both times..
Dragon Age(:Origins) and Dragon Age 2: Played Dragon age twice, almost finished twice, never touched the expansion and I played dragon age 2 for about 10 minutes....
CIV4+All exp's and CIV5: NEVER touched any of these, and I got them all.
All CoD single players: never finished a single one of them. Played the multiplayer from all in the series about 30 hours each.
Maffia 2: finished it but for those measly 12 hours and the price of this game on release I feel like I have to get back in there and do a 100% game.
Resident evil 5: never finished. Barely played.
Splinter cell: Conviction: barely played.
GTA4: got around 70% into it.
Medal of Honor (the recently released one): never played single palyer, barely touched multiplayer.
Red alert 3 and most of the C&C series: barely played. The only one I played a bit was RA3, but i never even touched the campaign.
Oblivion, Morrowind . Played both around 25 hours each. Never finished.
Bioshock 2, same story...

There are like 30 other games that I have that aren't on the list where the exact same applies. Most of these however are the top $60/€60 games so I listed them mostly. Most of the games in this list are just great releases.

What about you guys? Is your gaming style like mine? Or are you one of those people who just doesn't buy a new game until you finished a previous one? I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth even though money isn't an issue for me personally, it just makes me feel kinda bad for never finishing these I listed. Most of the times I'll play for a little while and then I just have to get into some kind of multiplayer environment, that's just where I belong it feels. That being teamgames with my team in cs:s and LoL (we play competitively in these 2 games) on our ventrilo community (we are about 10-15 friends who have been gaming together for about 6 years, we do IRL meets/vacations etc). But I always feel like I need to be in a more e-social environment when I play singleplayer hits, even though I'm talking on vent with my friends most of the time. Other than the competitive scene gaming we play loads of games for fun. Currently that's minecraft and brink mostly. Most of the times I would launch a single player game on the unfinished list, play for about 20 minutes, and as soon as I hear people on vent gathering people for a game of whatever, I'll just join them immediately and get off the game I just opened/started playing.

A big passion of mine is music and tv as well, so recently I've been watching a TON of tvshows and films on a daily basis as well, way more than usual. Gaming is still a big interest of mine though, I still game every day, but way less than before and it's always in sessions in between other things.

Anyways, I'm derailing from the topic, which was: do you finish your single player games? do share!

same over here, allthough I've stuck to Call Of Duty multiplayer ever since MW2. And I used to play C&C Generals Zero Hour alot. friends of mine played that game and I must say RTS games are the most fun to play together.

Resident Evil 5....and that's it ):
I have a bad habit of starting really long games and not finishing them.
The Assassins Creed series is the only series I've played start to finish without taking more than a 1 day break.

Only RPGs i have finished are Ocarina of time and Tales of symphonia.

Dont want to troll but some of your games on that list aren't RPGs, right?

It's kinda something with you o.O Don't have enough focus for RPG games I guess o.O I played (and finished) DA1 twice, ME1 and 2 three times and those are pretty much the only two real RPG's I played. Also finished Fable 1/2/3 twice. There are only two games I never finished, which are Farcry 2 and Prototype.

When I buy RPG's I usually finish them within a day of 3/4. When ever I play a game I really like I get sucked up into it untill I finish it.

But yeah, do you like the games or not? Cuz if you do then I don't see why you can't finish them =/ I guess you can play once in a while, just use old saves and you finish it eventually xD

(To give you an idea of how addicted I can get when I play a really awesome game, my first DAO playthrough was 45 hours over the span of 3 days.)

ussually I manage to finish my games. I tend to not buy anything before I've finished something else. And since my computer is already loaded with like 20+ installed games, I make a point out of managing to uninstall 1 before I install another -__-.

started fable 1, I suspect I got 2/3 in, but it seemed to get real grindy :[, I will be replaying it though. I noticed that it was just my class that sucked D:

bioshock, probably 30~40% in. While it was absolutely magnificent, other games just stole my attention away. at that moment in time my computer was brand new and I was really looking forward to lots of other games too.

settlers 5? HoK, I love the atmosphere of the game, it's beautiful, but the story and voice acting is sooo bad D: I WILL FINISH IT THOUGH! Cause I have Settlers 7 waiting in line D: (and maybe I will need to go through 6 first as well -.-

Prince of Persia: the pretty one with cellshaded graphics. it has beautiful visuals, but the gameplay is crappy >.<. I hate the chick, combat is mediocre and movement is WAY TOO AUTOMATED, space practically controls every move in the game D:.

Vice city: just never quite got around to it...

I still have a HUMONGOUS list of games waiting in line to be played.

if you want motivation to keep playing you should try getting a friend to play the game along with you. both start at the same time, maybe try a race ? just keep talking through skype or w/e, but stay away from vent if it will steal away your attention...

I have much more than 20 installed games and still have a few free hundreds of giga bytes (i have 500g on my main and 300giga on my laptop , how am i supposed to fill that space) , btw some games that i have are +10 giga , there are like ~ 70 movies on that pc too and a few songs .

45 hours over the span of 3 days : that makes it 15 hour / day , not bad .

i am the same way it makes me sad. the only game i can think of that i beat was mass effect 2 and boarder lands. there is a whole list of games that i have that i still want to beat, or go back and play again this summer

The only reason to game is because you get pleasure out of it,, if you don't get any pleasure out of them,, don't finish the SP if you dont feel like it... who cares?

by the way,, if been watching movies and series for a few years now,, if you watch 2 or 3 movies a day,, you will run out of decent good movies in half a year or so,, the reason why i started gaming again is because i ran out of movies :( how sad,, xD

I've finished most of the games I've played. for example, half-life, diablo 2 and LOD(the expansion), dune2000, metalgear (first) and a ton of other games like starcraft and starcraft2, but I've mainly been focused on the online games for several years, so I barely play single player games anymore

Role Playing Game. And yeah, I didn't have much to do at the time (no work or school) but I'm studying now so that won't happen again anytime soon xD

I just bought Borderlands since I never actually played it yet for some reason. Played with 3 friends, lvl 13 now. Quite enjoying it, I'll probably finish this (both playthroughs) easily since it's co-op

Was about to buy The Witcher 2 actually, but decided against it when I thought about it again... haha. I'll probably end up buying it anyway, we'll see.
