How often do you reformat?

I used to reformat like every 4 months when I was "noob" because I kept getting spywares. I knew how to go through the whole process by the age of 13

Nowadays I rarely reformat, I actually didn't reformat ever since I got this laptop (Dec.09). Funny because I'm not running any kind of antivirus. It's almost like viruses are a thing of the past.

I don't use antivirus software, and rarely format my Windows systems. Maybe once a year. No antivirus is used on my UNIX systems either, of course.

You should try Avast! antvirus, recommend to everybody it's free and best anti-virus engine (Kaspersky) so yeah try it out!

BTw, todays reformatting + installing windows is piece of cake, i remember back when i was 12~13 installing 3.11 /95 was pain in the aass

Once a year or when my harddrive fills up with crap... don't use any antivirus software either

I have only reformated my netbook once because windows stopped working.

I use a antivirus/firewall because I would rather be safe then sorry. I do download random things and that is a security risk.

Only if my computer is f*cked over beyond hope.
The last reformat I've made was 2 years ago on my old computer. I had received a virus at some point and before managing to kill it, I had been deleting the dll's it jumped to manually -__-. so my computer had ended up slow as f*ck even without a virus.

on average I probably reformat every 4-5 years.

it's such a pain to reinstall everything over and over. Why would anyone wanna go through such a process deliberately?? Don't fix what ain't broken.

Whenever I listen to people telling me to install an antivirus and it deletes a file it's not supposed to. :/ :banghead:

especially if u like to keep a clean/fast pc

Install OS, drivers, Software u always use/need
Take a .ghost file
and u'r set.

Only downside to this method is that drivers/software are outdated
when u place the .ghost file back

About 3 times a year. Usually at the start of a new semester and beginning of summer. I like fresh installs.

I rarely ever find the need to reformat a drive.. unless the drive is showing signs of very damn problems.

Maybe once a year mainly just to get that freshly installed speed you always lose after a few months no matter how careful you are

also a good way to clean things up, i used to do it a lot back when i was more reckless with my computer but not so much these day

Never, I was gonna use mIRC the other day and it told me that I haven't registered in years or something, so now I'm unable to use it. The thing is that only a format will reset it, doesn't work with reinstall.

So now it's been like 2 years or more
