XP is getting old. If your laptop came with vista it will run it just fine. After SP2 came out for Vista it has become just as stable as win7.

I ran Vista Business for 8 months and not one issue. Hell I had more issues in win7 and XP.

Well considering your laptop is 3 years old, i'd go with XP.

That will increase its performance and in 2 years from now - when XP is virtually non existant - you need a new laptop anyway.

Vista would be the "best" choice really because of the support and drivers, but your laptop is 3 years old and the things you do on it won't be playing Crysis or rendering images/video I assume because in that case you'd have a better system.

Te recap, I'd go with XP since your laptop is old, and by the time XP is completely off the grid, you need a new system anyway. So going with XP now allows you to increase the laptop's performance.

that'd be my choice :)

If you cannot get a hold of windows 7 (It will run, trust me, it runs surprisingly well on a 7 years old pc of mine), then go with XP and get SP3 for it. No need to mess with Vista... ugh!

I'd go with XP Pro.

Your already gimpling yourself with the fact that your Vista OS is the "Buisness" version

vista imo. dunnno why everyone had problems with vista. i built a computer in 2007 all the drivers/programs worked fine. only a couple incompatible programs that could still be run in "compatibility mode". by now most programs are fully compatible with vista anyways. everything runs as fast , but vista just looks better imo.
