*cries* Graphics card problem?
So a couple days ago, I turned on my TV and put it to PC input and.... nothing at all.
It doesn't even think anything is hooked up. I was playing around with it, and after hooking it up to my old monitor and getting the same thing, I can rule out the TV. I tried using a DVI-HDMI cable (was using DVI-VGA before) and have the same problem so it isn't the cable either.
That means it's the graphics card right? Any computer pros have suggestions on anything else to try? I don't really want to have to do all of my web browsing on my PS3.
P.S. lights still light up when I turn on the computer, that is why I think it's a graphics card problem.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
Like chicken said, reseating ram can fix the no signal issue. If it diesnt then it may be gfx related

ok, to make things clear hear for me before I attempt helping you. Does it work on your monitor and just not TV's? and also a post of what video card you have would be useful

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
First thing I'd have you do is hook it up to a monitor.
btw, for most things model of card doesn't matter, unless it's got multiple outputs and one of them stopped working or the adapter to go from VGA to DVI or vice versa is suspect.
Or something weird like psu is "dead" but it still has enough power to display lights. More often tho it's the mobo/ram/CPU if the graphics card itself is ok.

Plug in speakers as well. Do you get the windows sounds as the computer loads up? If yes, it's definitely your graphics card. If that's the case..
try another graphics card
Knowing what card model he's using is VERY rarely going to help lol =|

actually the model of the card is important, becuz if it a problem, we could search and see if it was a problem for others and have a direct and easy solution. My old Nvidia cards were horrible back in the day of S-Video, my ATI cards worked fine with S-Video but Nvidia....

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
I had a reply here before, damned forum maintenance.
It was originally hooked up to the TV, I have tried switching to a monitor and got the same results. Card is nvidia 9600 GSO.
Bear with me, for some reason the PS3 won't multi-quote.

Tried hooking up to a monitor already as I said before. Also tried both outputs.
Also reseated the graphics card, the lights come on in the exact sequence they do for boot up, just... no picture. All the fans are running, even the one on the graphics card.
Whoever suggested try a different graphics card, I don't exactly have spare ones laying around.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
Well it could still be your
motherboard
gfx card
psu
ram
hdd
heh.
Try the thing with speakers I mentioned. That will rule out many things.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
Hi guise, I replaced my graphics card almost a week ago (yes, it took me that long to do anything about it.) I went with an AMD, and it was working great, I rebooted my computer earlier because it wasn't showing some videos I was watching on stream... Now I've got the same problem again... Something is burning out my cards isn't it?

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
It's pretty obvious, but to find out if it is your graphics card and not something else, take the card out and use the integrated video card on your motherboard. If you have the same problem with the integrated video card your monitor is the problem.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
replaced with the same card?
did you update the drivers? or maybe go back to a more stable WHQL set of drivers?
when does the blank screen occur? while playing 3d games, or just in Windows? I can't imagine a video card taking a lot of power in a 2d display environment.
Maybe it's the cable for the video card, or the PSU doesn't have perfect power on that rail.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
Went from NVidia to AMD, I can't afford 3D gaming equipment, I'll try a different connection on the psu. Blank screen only happens after reboot.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
It seems changing the connector I was using on the PSU has fixed it (if temporarily). Guess now I know that I A. Spent ~$80 on a card I didn't need and B. that my power supply needs to be replaced most likely. Thanks Equal.
Edit: Even though it didn't really help, thanks for trying to help Disconnected.

NP mang, glad to help. I've been in a similar sit-u-ay-shun before and beat my head against a wall for a long time until I swapped the entire PSU with a better one.
If nothing else, keep running it the way it is, maybe it was something as simple as the power cable didn't have a perfect connection to the vid card.

Re: *cries* Graphics card problem?
Well, for damned sure, cause I don't want to spend the money, I'll keep it as it is for now, and if it happens again, I'm getting a better psu.
