Differnece between garm and prot

Post by ClairePinnholey »

So..I recently traded my nova prot set for a nova garm set....i gained around 800~900 more mag def and only lost around ~150 phy def....so..why do people say prot is better :|? and the parry....oh god it went from 300-400 me-> pure int s/s nuker

You're build determines whats better to wear....For example a full str player has lots of phy defense and low mag defense so it makes sense for full str players to gain some magic defense by going garment..

Because if you haven't noticed. Mag damage is a lot higher then Phy damage. so that 150 Phy def you lost is just as much protection as that 600 mag def you gained.

150 is significant, but u should pay more attention to the phy/mag. reinforce of sets, it is more important than ur 'raw' phy/mag def.
trust me u lost a LOT more then just 150 phy def. ask some1 else to explain u the dmg. formula.

Pretty sure that the reinforce gets added into that "raw" number you see in the stat menu.(I figured he was using that number, and not adding the def from each item himself)

Didn't this question get answered back in 06? and a million times since?

Here is the Formula ( btw i didn't write it , i googled it ( found it at elite pvpers )) .

Physical & Magical Reinforcement.

Here goes again;
There's still a lot of people who probably don't know what the Physical/Magical Reinforce is actually for. I've been around a few forums, and none really do explain what it does (Or their just wrong with their explanations). So I've written a little bit of my knowledge down for you guys.

So lets get started!
There are a few simple calculations every serious SRO player should know.

Physical Defense= Str x Physical reinforce + Total Physical defense.
Magical Defense= Int x Physical reinforce + Total Physical defense.

Physical Attack= Str x Physical reinforce + Physical damage.
Magical Attack = Int x Magical reinforce + Magical damage.

The Reinforcement on your Weapon and your Gear is actually more important than the Physical/Magical Attack/Defense. The reason is simple; their base values in the equations listed above.
Obviously you would rather have a higher multiplier than a number you add to the equation.

Here's an example;
Lets say you have a level 100 Char, with 500 Str.

A 2-Handed Sword +5 level 98 with a Physical Attack of 2146 ~ 2558 (80%) and a Physical reinforce of 276.8% ~ 338.3% (0%)
Physical Attack= 500 x 276.8% + 2146 = 3530 ( Minimum attack power )
Physical Attack= 500 x 338.3% + 2558 = 4249.5 ( Maximum attack power )

Now the same +5 2-Handed Sword, but with 0% Physical Attack and 80% Physical reinforce

A 2-Handed Sword +5 level 98 with a Physical Attack of 2062 ~ 2454 (0%) and a Physical reinforce of 299.9% ~ 366.6% (80%)
Physical Attack=500 x 299.9% + 2062 = 3561.5 ( Minimum attack power )
Physical Attack=500 x 366.6% + 2454 = 4287 (Maximum attack power )

I know the difference isn't big, but I'm only stressing the fact that the Physical reinforce is also a very important thing you should worry about.

Here's a 2-Handed Sword +5 level 98 with 80%/80%
Physical Attack=500 x 299.9% + 2146 = 3645.5 ( Minimum attack power )
Physical Attack=500 x 366.6% + 2558 = 4391 (Maximum attack power )

Another few common question that people have:

Quote:
"What does Parry ratio do?"
Parry Ratio determines the amount of damage you receive during an attack. The higher the parry ratio, the less chance of taking maximum hit rating from an opponent.

Quote:
"What does Attack Rate do?"
Attack Rate determines the amount of damage you deal during an attack. The higher the Attack Rate, the higher the chance of dealing maximum damage to an opponent.
So in the first week in college i went with jeans and the pajama's shirt. Didn't notice what i was wearing till after i returned home.

u notice this now? lol

I have a feeling i know who the remake is for too

OT:
what was the point of that pic anyway? iirc the effect of reinforce values are not shown in the def u see in char window.

Ofc i could be wrong...

On the char window, only the magical attack is not added with the reinforce.
Other numbers are ready to use in a damage formula

This too. A lot of ppl forget that magical attacks have a higher base value anyways.

Garments also have the highest parry ratio, while armor has the highest durability. As an INT, you're more likely to die from physical attacks than from magical attacks.. so most people would suggest protector for you. Of course, garments will give you that extra 10% speed and higher parry, but you'll be more vulnerable to STR chars.

i don't get the point of pvp (unless ctf, battle arena, fortress war ) in other words group pvp anyway that's why i am using garment mostly ( wizz/bard ).

incorrect.. i had a robe top which had only 23 parry and a light armour chest i got had 37 parry.

also love all the underlying calculations makes it so awesome to make something strong without having to rely on the cookie cutter stuff everyone goes.

well i was wiz / cleric then changed to wizz / bard ( currently changing ) , i stopped leveling cleric at lv 30 as i don't like the skills and like bard skills more ( 850 cursed hearts for dlv 30 lv of cleric ,collected 150 still long way to go) and the cost for dlv about 17 m  , it is good i am good at making gold . :sohappy:
