HTC
As you may be aware, HTCs are becoming a hit nowadays..
http://www.htc.com/us/products#/?view=1-1&sort=0
I dont own one myself, but i'd like to have a Evo or HD7 in the near future.
Being stuck with AT&T, i'm limited unless I buy a HTC unlocked ( the Inspire is coming out soon though )
Thoughts on the phones?

Re: HTC
I have an HTC HD2 with android on it, via NAND. The performance is actually better than any other android phone I've touched, including the nexus and evo. The scores I get on this phone is 2600 in quantum. The build is solid and nice. Glass screen, metal + rubber back. 4.3", thin and lightweight. HTC are perhaps the best feeling phone I've ever touched, and they make the iphone feel like a toy for babies. I could go on how amazing this phone is, because of HTC, but yah. HTC is thumbs up, especially if you don't wanna an Apple iShit

Re: HTC
a friend of mine got a HTC Desire HD and he likes it very much. htc mostly delivers quality phones. But I do suggest that you take a HTC which runs on Android. I'd love to have the Evo, but we still don't have a 4G network here in the Netherlands.

Re: HTC
I started off with the HTC elf which was a small light weight phone but it was great for what it was and eventually moved up to the HTC hero. I have to admit even though I have/use and love my apple products these phones have never left me with that sense of yearning to buy or even try an iPhone.
Total satisfaction.

Re: HTC
I find battery life fine. I have an ipod touch, and my hd2 with wifi, 3g, and full brightness lasts longer than my ipod touch, with full brightness and wifi.

Re: HTC
The Evo has been notorious for having terrible battery life and has been documented by various sources. The battery itself has a high capacity, but the phone strains the battery tremendously which causes the phone to lose its charge prematurely. I'm not sure if HTC have addressed the issue, but I haven't seen anything from them to indicate that they have.
I would suggest you buy another HTC handset elsewhere if the Evo is your only choice at ATT.

Re: HTC
HTC Smart FTW!! But the only downside is no WiFi. I'm waiting for HTC Smart 2 with WiFi and Office Suite.

I tried installing it but my HD2 gets stuck on the loading screen. I think it's bricked, because soft or hard reset doesn't work. Any advice?
Edit: Actually got it working. Feels good man.

I have a HTC Desire myself and I love it! One of my friends just bought the quite new HTC Desire HD and it's even more awesome!
However, if you don't mind waiting a couple of months (and probably pay a bit more), you should get this monster of a phone:

It's like the best phone I've seen. Even has a dual core processor

I can only imagine it would be like those "gaming laptops" that you have to leave plugged in to use?

Sure, it will probably take a lot of battery, haha. Just thought I wanted to share it due to the kinda sick hardware.

Yup. Useless shit. Phones should be like this.

For everything else, there's mp3 players, photo cameras, ebook readers and / or tablet PC's, which are much better at what they do. I prefer to use things for their best - and intended - purpose only.

Implying it's not so much more convenient to have all those features in one small, handheld device.

Re: HTC
The only reason why i haven't upgraded to my new smartphone yet is because i can't decide between an HTC and a BlackBerry.
TBH the only reason why i'm considering the BB is because of BBM, if this service was offered on an HTC it would be an absolute no brainer.
But everyone i know has a BB and keeps asking for my pin.

Convenience over true performance? Works for some people. Not for me.

Or you can always buy both? (you've got to have a lot of money to justify buying something for that "true performance" anyway).
I wouldnt like to have to carry around a phone / mp3 player / camera / ebook reader etc etc everytime i go somewhere.

I've always liked some blackberrys ( my aunt has a really old one, that we call the block berry lol )
Some of the newer ones are good.. they're pretty good for business and stuff; but I guess it depends on what you use to intend the phone ( you buy ) for.

It's more cost efficient too if you think about it. The cost of a MP3 Player, a photo camera, a phone, and a tablet PC is much higher than a cell phone with all those features.

And the satisfaction you get out of every individual feature is significantly lower, too. Although, you're actually right. It might actually be very convenient to have everything integrated into one device, and the frustration of not having optimal performance might not be _that_ great after all.
@Toasty: I don't mind carrying things around, tbh. The iPod Nano is really light and slim, and a Galaxy Tab / iPad / Amazon Kindle would be pretty easy to carry around too.
I also don't like the idea that, if my phone breaks down, or is low on battery - which often happens with smartphones, I reckon - I'm deprived of the non-phone-related features, integrated into the phone.
Also, if I want a better mp3 player, I can't have one, because I'd have to change my whole phone.
Decentralization is essential to me, in all areas of life, not just concerning my choice of hardware and / or devices. It's not THAT much more expensive.

I guess it would vary by the individual. For myself, I carry my phone (which has Internet, games, music, camera, etc) and my iPod, for optimal music quality.
I don't use the internet enough on the go to warrant anything more than my phone browser, I rarely have time to play games on the go, and I rarely use the camera so it works for me.

It's ALOT of convenience and more than decent performance. i'd rather have those both than great performance alone.
