Some general questions in regard to your opinions on botting

Most of those questions don't seem that relevent now considering joymax put an ip ban in most major countries so that you can only run 2 clients at a time. Thus gimping alot of major botters that unless pay for a proxy server are probably gonna quit playing.

But in any case, just cause someone bots doesn't mean I'm gonna dislike them, I play how they play and they play how they play. Before I may of been anal about it but that was just me being kinda naieve and kinda childish, that and friends just started botting after moving from greece to pacific back in the day, lol.

Joymax have gotten serious about botting and put a massive dent in it, but 1) they should've done it earlier when the game was more active. 2) They still don't make it easy leveling by hand grinding and quest exp doesn't cut it when the farming for skills is absurd.

If they ever do decide to make SRO 2 I hope they actually have a long hard think about what they did to this game and make some vast improvements.

i honestly never cared if somebody botted or not, i have kind of a i dont care what other people do type of philosophy on life. if somebody in real life was smoking weed and drinking alcohol, i could care less even tho i dont do it. in my opinion using drugs and alcohol is for scrubs but to others its not. same with botting. botting is now a part of the game though whether we like it or not. and if you choose to play legit, then you shouldnt care what method others choose. its childish to point fingers all day anyway

And what made you quit?

i quit and went back numerous times, i just dont announce it on the forum looking for attention like everyone else. as for why numerous reasons, i played runescape cuz i played it since i was in 7th grade(senior in college now but i quit rs), school, girlfriends, i do ninjutsu martial arts. all these things were real life factors, not cuz people botted, not cuz the game "sucks" imo its one of the best mmos out there. i played very little like 2 days when it was only china only, then i came back when euros were around and then i joined back like 7 months ago and im still playing till today. the diff is now i have friends from real life to play with in euro pts and we use silkroad almost like a chat as were grinding. its fun for us. then we compete to see whos char is the best.

Also, I mentioned powerleveling because the whole powerleveling system feels like an exploit. Doesn't it? Unless part of this game is supposed to be allowing high levels to get their friends to their levels in short periods of times, but I doubt that was part of the game design.

Yes, it is an exploit. There is no "power leveling system". There is an "guardian system" and a "party system" but not a "power leveling system". In a party system, everyone should be working together to help the party. In the guardian system, the guardian should be helping the lower level layer (who should be actually playing too. Show the low level 'the ropes' of the game. As a reward, both get exp bonuses, etc.

None of this was ever meant to have a high level (bot or not) being traced by 7 noobs on horses while the high level blasts a bunch of mobs for hours on end.

2. Haven't really bothered with SRO for the last several years due to the insane amount of grinding and SP required.

If JM increased the rates and cut down the SP requirements bots would be less common. It takes months to hit 90 with 1x, yet we saw CSRO players hit 90 in 3 days with 3x rates.

As we all know, by now, bots, botters and Silkroad (at least iSRO) go hand to hand, with the numbers of legits seemingly decreasing constantly (unless I'm wrong with that assumption?).

1) What are your specific stances on botting currently? I'm not talking about gold bots, of course.

2) What makes you continue playing legit, and playing Silkroad at all, despite this huge issue?

3) Do you think botting will ever disappear or almost entirely disappear, or do you think it's far too late and is too deeply rooted in iSRO to ever disappear? Do you have any proposal as to how to reduce it?

1 - I really don't like the programs, and it annoys me that people resort to botting, but when it comes down to it, it's JM's fault for continuing to allow it. Are they even banning bots anymore?

2 - easy, been repeated many times: hanging out with friends, doing things in-game, grinding, partying, a sense of accomplishment, all the new quests

3 - it'd be nice, but it seems like someone else stated - the SP required is too high, if you could level WITH other legits and keep a 9 gap that would be great, too bad it's only doable about 20% of the time.

4 - I don't, no. To be sure, power partying is much better and preferred. I mean, if you're just going to sit on a horse and never learn how to play, what's the point of the game? Too much of anything is bad.

Your last suggestion would benefit people like me that hardly ever PvP, I'd have a bow on the PVP server and stick with the Euro on the other server ^_^

A few more questions to top level legits (90 - 110 or so, or top levels in previous caps.):
First of all, I salute you because it is indeed an achievement (I guess it's lesser compared to world peace or curing cancer, but it's still something, maybe right there below those two ).

How long did it take you to get to that level? What are your thoughts on being surrounded by top levels who botted the entire way to the cap? Do you feel you are at a disadvantage against them, or the opposite?



And lastly, I wanted to mention of this relatively simple solution I thought of (which was probably thought of by many before me). Do you think creating PvP servers where one can get to choose a maxed character and PvP against the rest will eliminate or reduce botting, while still leaving normal servers for legit players?
Maybe it could be done with some combination of purchasing silk for various things, or simply for the regular enhancing items, so that Joymax won't feel they're losing money from silk buying botters.
I know I'd still want to play on a normal server, for the fun parties, sense of achievement, unique hunting, just balanced (in terms of gold\exp) playing, and all these things you're probably familiar with.
