Some general questions in regard to your opinions on botting

As we all know, by now, bots, botters and Silkroad (at least iSRO) go hand to hand, with the numbers of legits seemingly decreasing constantly (unless I'm wrong with that assumption?).

1) What are your specific stances on botting currently? I'm not talking about gold bots, of course.

2) What makes you continue playing legit, and playing Silkroad at all, despite this huge issue?

3) Do you think botting will ever disappear or almost entirely disappear, or do you think it's far too late and is too deeply rooted in iSRO to ever disappear? Do you have any proposal as to how to reduce it?

4) Would you consider power leveling a low level character to a high level is comparable to botting (if the high level who power leveled the low level did not bot) ?


A few more questions to top level legits (90 - 110 or so, or top levels in previous caps.):
First of all, I salute you because it is indeed an achievement (I guess it's lesser compared to world peace or curing cancer, but it's still something, maybe right there below those two ).

How long did it take you to get to that level? What are your thoughts on being surrounded by top levels who botted the entire way to the cap? Do you feel you are at a disadvantage against them, or the opposite?



And lastly, I wanted to mention of this relatively simple solution I thought of (which was probably thought of by many before me). Do you think creating PvP servers where one can get to choose a maxed character and PvP against the rest will eliminate or reduce botting, while still leaving normal servers for legit players?
Maybe it could be done with some combination of purchasing silk for various things, or simply for the regular enhancing items, so that Joymax won't feel they're losing money from silk buying botters.
I know I'd still want to play on a normal server, for the fun parties, sense of achievement, unique hunting, just balanced (in terms of gold\exp) playing, and all these things you're probably familiar with.

Getting to 106 took me about 2 years

It's fun to party and the people who still play are nice.

Not unless there is increased numbers of active GMs who have the ability to permaban all bots regardless of silk buying or not.

Not botting, but the probability that the high level who is powerleveling 24/7 to get you to 90 is not a bot is very very slim. I think if powerleveling were removed, it would be good for the community in terms of parties.

That might work. A common trend I've seen in a lot of botters is their overwhelming desire to pvp constantly. However, they also desire to have the ability to pwn a bunch of noobs, and noobs would not exist in a pvp server if everyone is handed a maxed char. Since there is no punishment for botting in a normal server, they will bot a character there so they can be an asshole both on the PVP server and the normal server.

Of course it would be, I made the separation because of the nature of gold bots (and my assumption that everyone's opinions on them are the exact same).

Well, I guess part of my solution would be strict punishment for botting on normal servers, but that's kind of asking for too much. It's a solution that seems very effective, though.





Also, I mentioned powerleveling because the whole powerleveling system feels like an exploit. Doesn't it? Unless part of this game is supposed to be allowing high levels to get their friends to their levels in short periods of times, but I doubt that was part of the game design.

A solution would be some sort of threshold, either a level difference limitation on exp sharing parties, or a level threshold on monsters, which makes monsters with a certain level difference from you completely worthless in terms of exp\sxp. Or some combination of the two.

I don't really think about the issue anymore like I used to. After playing for 4 years and seeing nothing concrete done has made me take an indifference stance towards it.... I just play because I love the game...No point in debating about something that has been debated/argued/protested against to the Nth degree without any real change.

It took me 4 years to go from 1-77. It then took me a year to get from 95-110 thnks to all the new quest/instances updates JM made. I have to admit things are slightly better than before.

Regarding bots. The current situation is that solo botters don't have that big of an advantage. They lvl and farm faster, but end game is end game. It's the multiclient goldbot farming noobs that have a big advantage. Those are people that have like 10,20,50, 100+b gold to spend. They're the people running around in nova egypt and nova +10 weps within the first few months. That + Prem+ and all the other silk shit makes even the shittiest char invincible.

bots are the lifeline of this game now. they are what fuel the games economy. joymax waited too long to do anything. if they somehow magically came up with a system where bots couldn't log in the game would die. its simply too repetitive. no one besides all the people who ara already doing it are going to want to spend 3+ years trying to get to the cap, especially since theres nothing to do when you get there. all the botters will quit cause there already used to not doing any work. a while back i did some math; i ran around a couple of grinding zones and came up with a bot ratio of 20:1 (on my server lvl 30-). that only leaves a couple hundred player spread across the sro world. its too late for this game. no bots = no sro

1) I'm indifferent nowadays. After years of JM not doing anything made me not care anymore regardless of what the legit community was doing.

2) I play games to play them. I never cared about reaching the pinnacle of the cap; however, to experience all of what the game had it was kind of necessary.

3) No. People are too lazy and impatient to live up to the insane amount of time and money it takes to cap and get FF (was before the new additions with 110 cap).

4). Somewhat. Just another lazy person; however, it it's another playing plvling themselves I see no problem.


Took me around 3months to get to Lv90 and like another month to get FF. Then took a few breaks from game. Disappeared for more than half a year, but before I took a break I got to 98. So in total it took actual grinding time around 6months to get to where my character was left at, but I spent around 1.5+ years during the caps farming, pvping, jobbing, etc. on Venus.

Eh, botters getting to cap before me has been around since I started playing this game back in '06, it's nothing new. Eh, players who know how to play their characters really well don't appear that often anymore. Stack a bunch of people who've played their character from Lv1 to cap and they'll know how to play it better than MOST who've just setup a bot and left.

True, you can see this when you pvp with some1. i Have now lvl 78 spear nuker and most of 81 cant beat me. Yesterday i took pvp against 81 bower who got warrior buffs. He had to spam kb until my snow shield disappeared.

The attraction isn't in pvp only, there are other games out there that cater for instant competitive gratification. MMOs such as silkroad are a prime target for cheaters simply because of the dichotomy of gamers (a significant legit presence vs everybody else) and its lack of rules enforcement. The fact that a lot of the bot users get away with it AND able to pvp with the advantages of a stronger char in the long run IS the main attraction.

The answer to that is obviously that someone might enjoy the PvP on Silkroad, but not the rest of the game, or not have enough time to put into it and still want to play the PvP with some sort of ranking or reward system. i honestly never cared if somebody botted or not, i have kind of a i dont care what other people do type of philosophy on life. if somebody in real life was smoking weed and drinking alcohol, i could care less even tho i dont do it. in my opinion using drugs and alcohol is for scrubs but to others its not. same with botting. botting is now a part of the game though whether we like it or not. and if you choose to play legit, then you shouldnt care what method others choose. its childish to point fingers all day anyway

I play silkroad because I like it, I think its fun. I play sro because it seems ridiculous to leave your pc turned on so a bot program can enjoy it for you, its a game you either enjoy it or you don't nothing in the middle.

Considering they make us download the whole client again for every legend update, they could consider improving their code. If nothing else they could take the bot mob idea further, ever seen games like rappelz or seven souls online?

I do however agree that botting is too deeply rooted in sro community but if Joymax/Wemade continues and furthers their no-bot policy, players will eventually stop botting and start playing.

Two words: Venus Legits.

It's kind of easy to level when you 0 ~ 3 gap and level off mobs 11 lvls higher than you in a majority all-euro 8/8 pt using premiums (silver ~ plus)

Dunno how much SP he needed, think it was about 450k or so ...
