TBH, after reading all this, I start to think that I was never really punished.

I've always had a big mouth so when my parents started bitching at me I'd bitch back at them, lose the discussion, get angry, walk away and lock myself up somewhere to cry.*I had a big mouth and way too much tears*

So many of you that gotten beaten/punished by your parents? wow. Never been myself by my parents so i can't really relate to it but i do know some kids you just cant get through to so the parents think punish is the only way. In a way i understand them but i would never hit my kids.

And the only time my mother has raised a hand at me was when I was being truly disrespectful and she did it as a last resource. I learned never to disrepect her again, and even if she didn't hit me, I love my mom, I've grown up, I'm past the phase where I question everything she says to me and just try to be an ass.

I've never been hit by my parents, I've always been punished in other ways like no computer for a week or no tv or no candies + a good talk about what I did wrong. I'm an obedient, calm, nice person.

For those saying that cold showers is a torture technique, there's a difference between the standard house shower and using a hose/waterboarding. lol'ed about the hot sauce though, bunch of pansies.

There are a few kids that can go without getting a beating, and still be respectful, and behave. But today in school most of these kids think they can do anything, I know personally since I go to a High School where this happens, have been to a middle, and elementary schools with this same problems. My first elementary was not in US and they could beat you there if you misbehaved, didn't do your homework, or anything inappropriate, and at that school I never saw anyone get into trouble. It may just be my opinion but with what I have seen beatings do get through to children most of the times.

I don't get how shes being abusive . She explains to him what he did wrong etc and puts some hot sauce in his mouth and like 20 seconds in the shower O.o

i remember me/my siblings being smacked in the face, kicked on the butt, kicked on the back, hit on the head, getting ears pulled/twisted, get hair pulled, arms twisted etc. when it wasn't physical it was using getting locked in the bathroom, getting kicked out of the house or being tied on the roof for the whole day (the roofs were flat)

When I got in trouble at school I was spanked and sent to bed with no dinner. How is hot sauce and a cold shower abuse? I have friends that have had their mouth washed out with soap for swearing or lying... at least hot sauce is edible.

I was a really obedient kid because of how much I feared my dad. My dad would get mad at the slightest little mistakes. It's not just "stupid" mistakes. I'd also get beatings for bad marks (always had A's, B was no good. And I'll always remember when I had C in music...).

all you gotta do is explain something very clearly, if the kid doesn't understand, take away what he likes.


When we learn that we can only have what we like if we behave so to have those things, we'll learn to behave and work for what we want.

Anyways, one of the "punishments" I did get were tickle deaths. If my dad wanted me to get off the couch and do something and I refused he'd tickle me because I just can't handle it. it started to hurt after a few minutes so I did it anyways.

I'm so sorry to hear this. and I know worse things have happened to other people. But you can't really compare.
