Why do some of you people think that the retaliation would be in the form of a Nuke? I don't know what the rules of engagement are but I'd assume that the US (or any nation) would not want to just nuke and another country in retaliation killing millions of civilians who has nothing to do with the initial attack on them.

honestly i cant see poltics long erm changing much at all, be serious now and think about it, sure its a major loss and short term things will change but 10 years down the line back to the same old

as for the war issue no country would attack with nukes without some serious good reason, the idea behind nukes sure is flawed but works they ward off war with that country in any serious way, only wars that go on are ones we choose to enter or are gorilla in nature. IE taliban where they have no single country nor any single base of operation.

Ofc long term effects will persist as you can imagine the nuclear isotope has quite a long half life otherwise we would reopen chernobyl also it will effect quite a large surrounding area via the wind and gas's which are now irradiated but again thats not a perm thing it will wear off ofc damage will be done by it but down the line we will shrug it off like 9/11 (sorry it is quite insensitve) where it was a big deal then but other then 9/11 the date who really makes a deal of it anymore 9years down the line? (please dont mistake what im saying here i by no means say we have forgot these acts but they no longer bear any effect on the day to day operation of us and our respective nations)
