Re: Computer Monitor
Advice? don't buy Benq. I would rather buy from HP and I hate HP.
Get a name brand, or if you can't, find out what panel is in any alternate name - like Best Buy sells Phillips LCD's rebadged to their own name.

Re: Computer Monitor
I see the BenQ monitors on sale all the time for much cheaper than most others and I know it must be for a reason.
If you want a great monitor, buy a Dell monitor. I've seen the 24" hit some pretty low prices lately ($179.99 canadian) compared to the normal $240~ range. The reviews sure do stack up in their favour as well. Don't let the name Dell scare you, there computers may be..well >.>, but their monitors are amazing.
Or if you know a bit more about monitors you could look for the Dell IPS panel 23" that's been hitting like $189.99 canadian...That is if you don't mind a bit higher input times.

They weren't always a name brand. Last I checked Acer only holds a 14% stake in Benq now or maybe less, and it's not necessarily the same quality. I know someone who used to use all Acer's and switched to Benq when it was spun off - said the quality is NOT the same anymore. He started using all Dell monitors.

Re: Computer Monitor
LED FTW. Pair a nice 24 LED with an upper-end HD gpu and you will have a rather visually stunning set up.

Re: Computer Monitor
I use the W2353 in conjunction with my laptop downstairs and I've never had a bad thing to say about it; been thinking of upgrading to two of the W2486 for my main PC.
So I'll agree with EvGa and say, yes, get a LED back lite monitor. It will do you good.

Re: Computer Monitor
Alright, looks like its going to be the LED one, anyone know what the major difference betwen the HDMI and LED is? As in which one is better at what etc.

Hdmi is an output/input type that is used to for monitors. LED/LCD both have this connection in most cases.
As for LED vs LCD
in general LED has better black levels and overall colour. Not entirely sure but I think it has low input time as well but at 1-3 MS you wouldn't really be noticing a difference. I think the viewing angles are much worse though, don't take my word for it.

Re: Computer Monitor
Well, I have read up on it after I made my last post and by the looks of it, getting the LCD one would be better for what I need (HDMI that is).
Re: Computer Monitor
There are other brands and models of monitors that are LED backlite AND have HDMI inputs... search around. Or you only have these two choices at a local shop?

Re: Computer Monitor
Yeah, those are the only ones I can find at a reasonable price at my local shops.
