Making a pc [Help a noob]

Ello folks,

As the title sais, im building a new pc... sadly enough i have no clue as to what's good nowadays.

So far i put togheter a small list of parts... the main thing is that i want it to run CoD Black Ops in high quality.
Since i dont know to much about hardware performance, suggestions with similar hardware would be much apreciated ^^

Motherboard: Asrock X58 Extreme
Processor: Intel Core i7 930
Memmory: 4GB Crucial DDR3 1066 MHz
Videocard: Radeon HD 5670 1GB (would a 4650 / 4670 1GB do well enough?)
Power supply Recom power engine plus 500W

Price : 790 euros (along with a case, a dvd writer, hard drive)

Any good? No good? let me know ^^

Intel i7-970 is the fastest atm.
Also choose a motherboard that can support up to 8Gb RAM. Yours is 6Gb max.
Choose a motherboard with dual/parallel graphic card support.

Need a better graphics card
get an ati 5850, if you're going for an i7 lol. If you don't have the $$$, then drop the i7 to an i5 as Love will inevitably point out, it's much better price vs performance.

Your motherboard can handle 24gb ram max, and has 3 pci-e slots 2.0 (x16)

Might as well get 6gb ram and do triple channel 2gb sticks

edit: bigger PSU as well, something more name brand..700W

yes the psu wont hold the load, 700W minimum 850W recommended, and don't you want a better video card? the one listed is HORRIBLE, switch it to a 5770

The 5770 seems reasonable.
The 5850 seems horribly overpriced, is the performance truely THAT much greater ?

Also, pre-made gaming pc's i've checked for comparison seem to have 500-550W-ish PSU's somehow.
Even loaded with i7's and 6-8GB ram etc, are you sure like 850W would be needed? Since where im looking 850W's go upto 150 euros extra pretty easely.

Comon, 6870 (new 5770) can run with an i7 on a damn 500W. EASY. Just get a good brand with 80%certification and you're set well.

gah, do you noobs not realize the life of PSUs, the older the more is needed, so if he wants the pc to be a keeper, hes needs a higher wattage psu

Also, forget to mention, that a demand for a PSU should roughly 3/5 or less of your actual PSU cap, allowing everything to cap out with considerable room, again, adds life

Don't buy chinese japanese crap PSU's anyways. Just buy an Antec or Seasonic and 500W will do the trick. Btw, 850W is so horrible priced, you'd better buy a new PSU for that money if your 500W will ever stop working for your system.

thats why a minimum of 700W, and recommendation of 850w, it allows room for upgrade, and trust me SLI is a power hog, my 470s, I need for 6pins !!!!! i know he isn't planning SLI now, but later down the road it'd be a great addition

and a decent 700w will cost you $65

I'll support that 5770 idea
I have the card myself. I can run mw2 at like 140 fps on highest settings, no lag at all and from what I've seen graphics haven't improved much in black ops, so you should be fine with the card. what's more: I've heard from a friend that the 5770 is one of the few cards left on the market that are sensitive to changes in the settings. so if you ever do end up having lag in a game, you can just change a few minor things and get your good framerate back. whereas cards like the 5850 (just choosing a random one) which in general will perform a little better, will not react nearly as sensitive to changes in settings. It gives the 5770 a longer life value, since you won't need to switch it as soon if it becomes old.
Either way I'm very happy with my card, the only thing I need to mention is that you have to update the drivers and perform a windows update (for some reason one of the updates was in there =/, I did mine 2 days ago and all the bugs I had have vanished now. (some HD vids on youtube acted a little weird, and prince of persia 2008 had trouble with some graphics).

5850 is much better than the 5770. Like I said, dropping to a high class i5 and grabbing a 5850 is a much better decision.

note this is a small example..but it will be more/less noticeable in other areas..

edit: 750W psu should be a no brainer. A name brand psu..etc. Or you can get a cheap no-name and have psu issues in a few months (or right away).
