Considering that you're selling your old laptop to your mom for $300 I assume it was like $800? It should be good enough for a couple more years until it gets replaced and those specs will be like $200.
My laptop was 950$ in 2008...

Not really, my laptop is heavy, especially that I have to carry around this huge power supply because it wasnt from canada, but from dubai, my adapter is HUGE, takes up a lot of space in my bag... Thats the main reason why I wana get an iPad, its small compact, and battery lasts ages
***Just to clarify***
I meant by wasting my money, is that: I'm ready to make an investment to buy the iPad thats no problem, I have money for it sure, but the thing is as you all said, its dam expensive, but it looks nifty, and its just that after a couple months I don't want to be looking at it saying fu.cking hell...
I don't consider it a ''waste'' of money, if I like the product

I don't want to play games on my laptop, my desktop is powerful enough for that.
Fug_Dup wrote:If your schoolwork doesn't require much more than a word processor and wireless printing then it won't be a problem for the iPad. You could use the DropBox app (free) for the iPad to auto-sync documents from the iPad to a PC/Mac and save time with transfers (it syncs copies of files on your iPad, DropBox servers, and your desktop). As far as printing goes, there's plenty of apps that allow you to connect to network and wireless printers (there are also a few official apps from the printer manufacturers themselves). If you like the iPad and don't really need powerful computer components, then by all means buy it. If you require something with a bit more versatility, then I'd recommend getting a good netbook and slapping a linux distro on it. They're small, light, and relatively inexpensive.
Thanks for the info, thats the type of post im looking for..
(im no Apple fan, but this gets me interested)
Thanks guys keep the posts coming, seems like there are apple haters here hehehe

Thats no problem really...
The point is that I just want word processing and powerpoint, I don't need fancy games or some super duper powerful machine, not at all

I want something super light, easy to carry, with very long lasting batteries:)
