Okay so there's this really annoying, fat, ex co-worker of mine. She stops by work on a regular basis which is fine any all. But then she always insists upon me giving her a hug. And all I can think to myself why hugging her is how quickly I can let go of this fat, sweaty, thing without hurting her feelings.

So my question is, how can I get out of hugging her, without damaging our "friendship"? She's really not as bad as I make her out to be. It's just the hugs. *shivers*

(but that could actually backfire, she might try to hold you longer and tighter so her body and clothes can absorb your sweat so she can have your smell on her the rest of the day....)

The whole purpose of a hug is to express feelings of friendship and love. If you don't feel that with her, than simply tell her your not comfortable with hugs. A lot of people don't like hugs, especially very distant people. Just give her a friendly handshake instead. If she's a decent friend, she'll understand. If not, what's the loss? Anyone who ruins a friendship over a hug isn't someone I'd want to be talking to, tbh.

Myself, I'm 65kgs & 175 cms. I'm quite skinny and yet I have overweight friends. They are great people and I have no problems spending time with them/ Does it matter that they are fat? Let's pretend that instead of weighing 65kgs, I weight 165kgs. Your thoughts where you call fat people "the stench of the earth" would be a complete and utter offence to me. I'd think that your words are incredibly unkind, unjustified and a complete and utter degradation upon my personality.

Replace the word fat with black and it's racist. Replace the word fat with women and it's sexist. Replace it with homosexuals and it's homophobic. All of these values are deemed negative by society. Why? Because they are degrading to people. Your words may be justified in your mind, but do oyu know how much it hurts to be called something like that? Do you know how much it hurts to have people honestly and truly believe you are the worst form of being on this earth? I may not be fat but I've experienced this oppression before. It made me very depressed, I hated myself for a long time and my confidence has never fully recovered. It goddam hurts.

Well said but in all honesty, I'm somewhat overweight and I don't really take it offensive. It's probably some 14 year old hiding behind his screen calling people names. I don't think he has the balls to say stuff like that to a fat guys (or girls) face.

As for fat people, I don't really have a problem with them. My best friend used to be massive. Like a good 300+ pounds easily. He trimmed down and is now only like 180-200 pounds. I have a massive amount of respect for him considering the rest of his family is still HUGE. *they are some of the best people I know though*. What bothers me about fat people is that they don't seem to care that their fat. Or at least they don't seem to care enough. And that bothers me since being overweight is extremely un-healthy. I just hate it when people give up and resign themselves to being obese for the rest of their lives. At least TRY to improve your health.
