£1500 Budget

Post by [SD]Master_Wong »

You have £1500 to build a computer you must use scan.co.uk

post your theoretical builds, if you have any strange parts you must say why ie 2 monitors etc.

In a month give or take il be starting a new computer build and this will be my buget i have a fairly good idea of what im going to do with it. Just small details like 1x5970 or 2x5870 gfx cards and such. Although 1 strange thing is i will be putting a 250gtx gfx card in the system purly for physx maybe go a lil lower to a 9800 after all its only for the physics engine.

yea i literally rofl'd.

im not going to go build a pc for you but i would suggest going with a core i7 cpu, a geforce 480 video card (unless your a ati fanboy) and like 6 gbs of ram. idk if your including a monitor in the price but if you are you could always get 4gb or ram instead of 6 and a lower video card. also get at least 1TB of storage, you'll thank me later. if your heavy gamer i suggest getting a Razor mouse and keyboard, they're nice, always get a aftermarket cooler and case wise get a Antec 1200, you cant go wrong with it.

You weren't even close ... this just doesn't happen. One more pc building thread full of fail once again, I'll see if I can spare a few minutes to piece something together tonight.

Omg this thread is so epic. I was sure he was just joking/trolling.

The 6600 is so obsolete I'm sure the motherboard's integrated graphics is better... Let alone the fact that it's AGP

Why does everyone like the over-priced i5's and i7's.

You can get this Phenom II x2 555 BE, for cheaper at 3.2ghz, more than that i5. PLUS! If you have a modern motherboard you have a great chance to unlock 2 cores to get a 100 USD Quad core. Theres also barely a cache size difference.

I dont see why everyone is so partial the i5's and i7's when theres better cheap alternatives. :?

Ok intel-fanboy.

Tell me the differences between, besides the price and a small cache size difference?

Oh wait, theres not. This card is used by many because of how easy it can be OC'ed + the price + performance.

Gtfo my internets.

I'm pretty sure that Intel still has AMD beat by a little at the consumer level. For a power user the story may be different, but on the whole Intel is a safe bet.

ATI does beat out Nvidia at the high end GPU spectrum. Price, performance ratio of the 5xxx series beats that of the 4xx series. Fermi is nice stuff, but ATI has made major strides in gaining a little market share back.

@Deadsolid

I wouldn't say so though. AMD processors are cheaper, and can give you better performance.

At a power user, they are completely neck and neck.

At entry level or consumer level, AMD has the win.

2x5870 Eyefinity 6 8) for maximum epenuhs

No, but go with 2 x 5970 regulars, or just a 5970.

sadly you are right but a number of reasons is the i7 is faster, more overclockable and supports ddr3 better amungst other things, i do prefer amd tbh but until they have something better its intel and pricey solution for me.

i doubt i can stretch to 2x5970 they exceeds my needs by a lot. id they have to fork out on big monitors to justify it
