Jeanneau Sun Way 29, owned by my dad and I. My family, - well my Dad and me mostly, as my mother and brother are always afraid when there's a strong wind lol - been into the sailing thing as long as I can remember, and still we sail nearly every weekend if there's enough wind.
We used to have Etaps, a 22 and a 26 ft, and they make good, reliable ships, but a Jeanneau is just so much faster.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Is Jeanneau the maker that doesn't use back stays?

Anyway, I have a 18' Sol Cat catamaran in pretty bad condition that I bought and meant to fix up, but never had the time So I'm trying to sell it, maybe looking at getting something like an FJ if I can pick one up from craigslist. Will look for picture after posting this.

Finally someone with taste lol. I have nothing against powerboats (when they stay out of my way), but I'm definitely no fan of them either.

In general Jeanneau does use back stays, perhaps not for the smaller models, but I'm not sure.

I love catamarans, the harbour has a few abandoned ones that I occasionally 'borrow', and I love them. The moment one of the hulls lifts from the water, and you find that balance, brilliant! You sure you don't want to keep it?

No clue about the price for a brand new one.
This one was a 2nd hand, and it had some osmosis so that helped getting the price lower down.

Sorry, I live in Minnesota, for those who don't know, it's the state with 10,000+ lakes. There are lakes in downtown Minneapolis, probably 35% of people own boats here and use the lake

Saltwater boats are bigger - like the one Ruyi's family has (nice f*kin' boat, I am jealous!)

In reply to the OP, I own a boat, I recently posted it in the "what I drive" thread (out of request).. It's a 17ft4in ProCraft bass boat with a 115HP merc. Despite the smaller engine it will haul azz on plane. On a full tank, one livewell, and only me in the boat I can hit 58mph.

I fish a good bit on the lakes around here and in tournaments every now and then. I love fishing, not too fond of the ski type boats.

I fish a good bit on the lakes around here and in tournaments every now and then. I love fishing, not too fond of the ski type boats.

I'm kinda surprised nobody has trash talked the Mercuries yet and yelled "Johnson FTW". Of course it's not really a boating forum. lol

I like to fish but GF doesn't like to eat it! We can catch walleye, sauger, northern pike (not my favorite eating) and panfish of various types. Not too many bass up here that I know of - and not like I fish for it either. I don't fish for trout much either. Heck, this year I've barely made it on the lakes.

Lake Mille Lacs is known for some of the best walleye fishing around, and there's a couple others that are really good for it too. What lakes do you fish down there?

Thanks. I've been up north 3 times (Minn) and had the opportunity to catch smallmouth and walleye, walleye are some of the best tasting fish I've ever had. Smallmouth are like trying to reel small cars up from the bottom, they fight like little tanks. Down here I fish for largemouth and occasionally bluegill if I want some food or have an inexperienced fisher with me, anyone can catch bluegill. As for what lakes, the main lake I fish now is Nacogdoches since it's the nearest to were I live. My main lake use to be Jacksonville. I fish Sam Rayburn every year for the McDonalds tournament.. the other lakes I occasionally fish: Fork, Richland Chambers, Striker, Tyler, Palestine, and Caddo.

Merc ftw! I don't see johnson's on many bass boats around here, usually only see them on ocean going boats in the gulf marinas.

Yeah, I like Mille Lacs but since it's kinda shallow, those storms can be brutal. That's why I'm looking for a 17-18' at minimum. I could still use it on the smaller lakes - Bay Lake, Round Lake, Farm Island Lake are all within 15 miles of our place. Plus I could even take it to Lake of the Woods and fish Canada-side if I really wanted to.

Walleye FTW, I like fish and will eat anything with lots of butter, but walleye does taste the best to me!

Lol! Mercury is on a lot of boats up here but since it's all freshwater, I see Yamaha's, Evinrude's, Johnson's. Mostly 90-150 hp although I do see the occasional 225 on a bass boat...boggles my mind.

You ever saltwater fish? When I lived in Alaska I caught a 50 lb king salmon and the guide said that was average. Talk about dead weight! Then we tried halibut but didn't catch any.

I was on MIlacs yesterday, for a few hours but then took our boat back to Cedar lake cause that's where my cabin is at and Milacs is a WAY better lake for walleye. I've tried out farm island lake as well, cought some nice pike on farm island.
