Computer advice

Post by Miguez »

So yeah I'm planning on buying a desktop, I atm have two options:

1st option for 620€

Intel Core i3-530, 500GB, 7200RPM SATA II, 6GB DDR3 1333 MHZ, Geforce 1024MB

2nd option for 700€

Intel Core i5-650,640GB, 7200RPM SATA II, 6GB DDR3 1333 MHZ, Geforce 1024MB

so my question is, are the extra 80€ worth it or not?

Probably. I've learned the hard way that you should not go cheap on your PC. There's a reason those parts are cheaper.

1st option and Geforce 1024MB is not a GPU, find out what the cards are.

No.

i3

I'm just ganna throw this out there.. how about building one twice as good for the same price? It isn't hard as you think.

As for the two options.. neither. They're not worth it the price for what you're getting.

don't get the i5 UNLESS its the quad core version. the Clarkdale is a dual core with hyperthreading kinda pointless you can get the quad version for a little bit more.

Go ahead with the 2nd. But I would check the price of a i7 720/640 qm and if it is under $200 just get that and do an aftermarket upgrade. But if you don't want to do that just get the 2nd 80 euro's more but it will be better in the long run.

Edit:

If you can I think you should just lower the RAM to 4, most programs won't use up close to 4gig RAM, it should be more then enough.

No, stop being so awful at pc building.

Go with the i3 it will do the same crap for 80 bucks less.

edit: Ownage you are extra awful at it, like no kidding.

Ok... Well... Building is not an option, I just wanted to know if the extra 80€ were worth the extra memory and the i5.

But yeah thank you for the advice I guess.

I'm just wondering why building is not an option? I'm not trying to push onto you to build the PC, but well.. building a PC can either save you a couple hundred or build a better one.

I had the same mindset before I built this computer.(Just a little note I planned on buying a $1200 tower, but in the end I built one that is like twice as good for ~$1400) Which was my first a year ago. Trust me it isn't hard. You can't go wrong nowadays. Unless I guess you somehow managed to buy the wrong motherboard for the processor? Not enough power? Like I said it's really hard to go wrong.

It's really simple. Like I said I didn't have any knowledge of building a computer other than knowing CPU, GFX, and RAM. For stuff I had no idea of I asked a couple buddies, google'd, and read reviews like mad. Ask around on the forums I'm sure you can get just a great of a PC for a couple hundred cheaper or a better one for the same price.

Again putting it together is easy. You would instantly know what part goes where. It's very hard to mix up parts.

Toughest part is finding parts that go well together, placing them is a piece of cake. I know shit about computer hardware and even I put a few together o.O

Ok then... If someone could give me a 'push' in the right direction it would be very appreciated.

I don't really need to buy the computer now, so I guess I'll start searching around to know where I can buy, what I should buy, etc.

well what exactly are you going to be using the computer for?

also putting things together is just time taking. took me 2 some hours just to configure my case but i was sticking cables behind everything (aka cable management stuffs) to get better airflow.

i can make you a few example lists if you tell me what the computer is going to be used for screen size and such.

I have a monitor already, but I haven't seen it yet, my father bought it.

My main question is where to buy the parts, but for that I guess I'll search for help in some portuguese websites :p

Thank you by the way :)
