not really DQed, but noone with a half brain had ever believed that the results for an event like this would be based on all replies to that forum.Colb wrote:I figured they'd ignore spammers or DQ them.
i have the feeling this is an event like
'wth are these kids complaining about no events? we have to find a way to shut them up that doesnt requies any work from our side'

Agreed. My ticket time expired, now the debate if its worth doin'
Things like this keep me from ever playing this game again. Against the majority who scam, bot, cheat, hack, or CCF their way to the top, the minority of legit players never stand a chance of achieving anything. Why play when for every 1 of you, there's 10 people with better equipment, more gold, higher levels, more SP, and more silk because they cheated it all and never get banned?
I actually did that thing in Mixmax's Sig!

DUDE.... That STILL allows many entires to increase the chances of a pick
You need to use a GROUP BY statement and pull a list of people who entered

I think his SQL was for MySql. That would work.
Distinct gets unique usernames. Unless people use multiple names, in which case, you have no way to know or control it. Then order the unique names randomly and select top 5.
Group by would give a list of people and how many posts they made. You can ramdomly choose from that list but distinct is easier.

It depends if DISTINCT picks from things as a group, or as individuals
Does it pick from A, B and C
Or does it pick from A, B, C, C, C, C, C, C, C, C and avoids picking twice?
In the second scenario 'C' still has an 80% chance on being in the DISTINCT result returned.
Distinct (column_name) gets all the unique entries in the column. So distinct(A, B, C, C, C, C, C, C, C, C) would be A, B, C.
sorry for off-topic folks.
