Thats wrong.
christianity = religion
all religions =/= christianity.
I realize Christianity =/= all religions. However, the term 'religion' is a broad term that encompasses all religions. So if you study religion, it teaches you all of the concepts and 'facts' of all of the religions, if you study far enough.

Well if you look closely at the "rolling eyes" smiley, the smiley is rolling his eyes up and to the left (his left, not yours). It is said that if you roll your eyes, it is a sign you are telling a lie because you are subconsciously looking up toward the left side of your brain. This is the creative side and you are trying to "make something up." So the poster using the eye rolling smiley is telling lies!

Yes but you said "religion tells us..." when only the abrahimic ones do. religion = faith in god.
everything else depends on what religion we're talking about
let it gooooo let it gooooOoOooOOOOOO

what if people believed in multi gods? or does that not fit anymore?
people still believe that the sun god plays pickaboo with you right?

Re: Religion ( a must see )
For those who have never taken Genetics, Molecular Bio, Cell Bio, or Evolution, hence lacking some understanding in these areas of science, let me explain.
Simply put as my professor did on the first day, Biology can not explain of Evolution, but Evolution can explain Biology.
Evolution itself is simply a theory which shows how things can adapt, change, etc. Evolutionary data is mostly based on statistics and observational data.
One thing math/statistics has shown is that as the larger your sampling number is, the effects of outlying parcels have on your overall trend. This is heavily applied in Evolution.
Much of Evolutionary research and data is math. There is a large sampling of data from the field, than it's straight number crunching.
Evolution's approach is pretty simple. Remove all variables, add them in one at a time or in combination and see its effects. Evolution can be divided into several areas. Statistical conversion of data into trends. Genetic research to discover linkage that is beneath what we can see. Phylogenetic analysis. etc.
Those are the ones I was most interested in. Math plays a heavy role with modeling and probability. Ex) include phylogeny trees, gene transfer, de-evolution of a species.
Genetics gives us common links in our DNA. It's shown that evolving a new pair of legs, or a longer abdomen isn't as hard as once though. A small mutation in the developmental stage is what led to huge difference between insects.
Phylogentic analysis relies heavily on math to determine the evolution tree of a species.

I am not the Websters definition of an agnostic that you think I am but rather a variant.
TOloseGT summed up my thoughts pretty much. I don't think agnosticism in itself is delusional at all. It's healthy skepticism and an honest position to hold. However, your particular variant of agnosticism is, to put it plainly, absurd. You're equating wishful thinking with empiricism. You're basically saying that truth is in effect, irrelevant. This is where I dismiss your position. You're putting a value on an opinion based on the quality of the opinion rather how much truth is behind it. The pragmatic values that a faith preaches are not on the same level as truth (in the scientific sense), which makes your position invalid for that reason alone. This is basically idealism in disguise.

You're arguing semantics even though both parties have agreed on what they're discussing. Maybe if there was some confusion concerning the religion in question you'd have a point, but there isn't because the context in which they're writing clearly shows they're discussing Abrahamic faiths. You're welcome to be pedantic about these non-issues I guess, just don't be surprised when no one else is.

lol...I'm not wishing for anything...I'm simply saying I don't know....and hence I will not speculate either way. And that to me is the truth at this phase of our existence backed up by the fact that any argument for either side results in going in circles. You are reading way too much into what I'm saying and using this thread to exercise your philosophical experience/training/prowess which is fine, but it can sometimes get in the way.
"Any man who knows anything knows that he doesn't know anything at all" ....at least for now..

Whatever helps you sleep at night buddy. I'm not trying to convince you to think otherwise, just pointing out the irrationality behind your opinion. I'm don't believe I'm exercising any strong philosophical arguments here at all. However, should I be, it would be irrelevant in a thread that is based on philosophical and epistemological elements. This is tantamount to chiding someone for speaking too technically in a technology thread. Clever indeed. o_O

this is in referance to what is "being taught" vs what the "bible actually states." its made clear in many places within the bible that the masses will be unreachable and decieved until the ages of the reign of (messiah) jesus upon earth. the person generalizing is you. you are taking a context-specifical portion of a book and applying it to *religion*. that doesnt work. my spirituallity is of faith, that faith is the evidence of things hoped for and the substance of the unseen. i cannot show you my faith or give you that evidence. it is a gift.

What? I simply said what you did. It only seems like I do this every time because most the time you troll me the same way. Then you go on and on. On forums and in game. It just gets old after awhile. I'm sure most everyone else here can agree.
