What do you expect when 9 Japanese players are in the penalty box defending 3 dutch players just trying to get close to it.

jesus christ, japan is playing like a Farking wall. Still, we go right every time and there's no striker left. It's always bronkhorst left and he's a defender. We better get Elia because he did great on left last time.

edit: japan is actually just playing better. They got a tight defense and they are the only team to get some shots. Netherlands better not fail against Japan like the other good teams have failed.

Mid field playing way too passively, stop passing back and take some chances. But yeah, agree need Elia or Robben and some fresh mid field for attacking.

also, good ref

Duh, 8 Japanese behind the ball to cover 4 Dutch players, of course they can't play forward most of the time.

They have to pass back because Japan is playing with ALL their players on their half. They have 1 defender for every Dutch player but then they even have a surplus because ALL of the Japanese players are on their own half. These extras just run up to whoever has the ball, and because everyone is covered they have to pass back because there's no options to pass forward.
Which is.... great defense by Japan, but it makes the match boring and the way it's played there's going to be very few shots by either team.

It was pretty much the same against Denmark and then we erupted during second half, so let's pray for a comeback where we give these anti-football japanese guys what they deserve; a good spanking.

First of all you can pass forward and take chances (e.g. count on mid and left to out run the defenders on a cross, etc.), it opens the field for counter attack if you screw up your pass, but you're suppose to be better players so don't screw it up.

Second, awesome goal.

Japanese men can't finish, no surprise.

:yay:

Not an impressive victory, but a victory nonetheless. And Afellay, cmon... they better train him in finishing those situations that should have been at least 1 goal.
